4th Amendment Suspended in Boston: Warrantless Armed Door-to-Door Raids

For the first time in American history, an entire U.S. City was put on lockdown while teams of armed militarized police patrols performed warrantless house to house raids. Almost a million people were ordered to stay home, and stay off the streets as armed SWAT teams closed down highways, patrolled neighborhoods, and even performed warrantless raids. Boston was completely shut down.

Boston Swat Teams

SWAT Patrols

Shelter in Place Signs in Boston

Armed Warrantless Raids

Stunned Watertown Residents filmed armed SWAT teams as they performed warrantless door-to-door searches forcing residents out of their homes at gunpoint.

Have you ever wondered how quickly an entire city could be locked down?
Don’t worry they were only “protecting” the citizens…..

I get that we were looking for a terrorist suspect, but locking down an entire city and holding innocent Americans at gun point is something that should have never happened. In fact, it did nothing to catch the actual suspect. The suspect was caught because an average American noticed something wasn’t right in his backyard and reported it to authorities. This is how America is supposed to work, but yet again we witness the complete failure of our intelligence agencies.

I agree this is absurd, we didn’t even lock down cities after 911 yet we are expected to believe this was all over one 19 year old kid? BullSHIT~!

This would never have been allowed to happen at my home! No one terrorist or Law Enforcement will enter my home without a warrant PERIOD!

This is why they want your guns. Watch these videos carefully cause this is how easy they can take you when your not armed. Keep in mind Massachusetts is an anti-gun state where almost nobody owns a gun.

    • teapartysucks says:

Get over yourself no one is coming to take your guns. This should show you why only police should have them and how Obama is keeping us safe. I guess you people forgot that we caught the bad guys.

      • old soldier says:

You must be one of those people who believes everything he sees on tv. Also, one who needs to read ….

      • Largetarget says:

        they already searched this area
and missed him…what if he tried to hide in the house instead of the boat… who would have stopped him the un armed home owner

      • teritor says:

ya ok keep telling your self that, its already starting by suspending kids for wearing T shirts with gun graphics or poptart shaped guns, how about the little girl suspended for a bubble making gun in school. Open your eyes. People like you are the reason we need to keep our constitutional rights. Two things your going to say when your robbed, oh God and I wish I had a gun.

      • derek says:

Obama is keeping us safe .. lol you have to stop drinking the kool aid , Your master Obama has done more to this country to keep us unsafe and we have been extremely lucky what happened on Monday hasnt happened alot more . This was a practice exercise of what will take place if Martial law is ever declared its just a matter of when it will happen again.

      • Mike says:

You stupid troll. Be happy when they put you in an internment camp when some disaster strikes your area and displaces you from your home.

      • Selkirk says:

Andrew Cuomo is coming to take your guns. He said so right on national television.

You’re clearly just trolling anyway. Even anti-gun people are a little concerned about the casual imposition of martial law.

      • michio says:

safe from what exactly fuck face? how is that cognitive dissonance working out for you pussy?

    • JOHN says:

YOUR SO RIGHT, THEY ARE TESTING TO SEE HOW FAR VTHEY CAN GO, AND TO SEE HOW FAR THE PUBLIC WILL LET THEM GO. SCARY IS’T IT……….

      I completely agree

Stupidity is easily recognized in the absurd comment you put forth on this comment section. Let me hazard a guess that you never completed 8th Grade; you have a history of criminal activity and you read “Womans Daily” because you like the pictures?

    • Michael says:

I am an Independent and believe in the Constitution. We all have the Privilege of living in a country that has fundamental laws for protecting the rights of Citizens. I have read several of the comments posted here and I am mystified at the absurdity of them. Boston Authorities quickly became engaged in a volatile and aggressive action by two perpetrators. They had legitimate information about the whereabouts of the 2nd Suspect. As my duty as an American Citizen I am going to allow the Authorities to enter my premises if there is any possibility that a Terrorist of Criminal could be in my premises. These were not storm troopers entering homes, plundering personal property, holding Citizens against their will. Everyone cooperated together for the successful apprehension of a Terrorist. Ignorance is dangerous; without the concerted efforts of the FBI, State Patrol, Sheriff’s Department and local Officers Boston Terrorist could have escaped. I own guns, and my property is protected by my Rights as a Citizen. Yet if the Authorities tell me that a Terrorist is loose on my Neighborhood and I don’t allow them to check my property for safety; then I am the fool. The fact is that if you are not involved in illegal or criminal affairs you would have no difficulties in allowing the search of your premises.

      • sick & tired says:

Your response is well thought out but I feel you did not see your own point. As of right now you still have the CHOICE to refuse entry without a warrant according to the 4th amendment. If you were not given a choice and they demanded their way in, would you still feel the same. Memphis, TN is a war zone on a daily basis (which you wont see on the news but as a former resident of 20 + years I can attest to this) but they do not lock down the entire city. Also, as to the “if you don’t have anything to hide comment”, I have special needs children. One passed in Nov 2012, but he had a compromised immune system (also on a vent, O2, feeding tube, etc) and police going house to house and bringing whatever germs they went through at those houses to our home could have killed him. Not to mention that just exiting the home with him was a major undertaking. He and all his equipment had to be transfered to the wheelchair and supplies for the day taken as well (feeding tubes, multiple meds, emergency kit with extra circuit, O2 cylinders, external battery, etc….) It’s not just grab-n-go if you get my drift. My oldest is Austistic, Bipolar, with Schizo Affect. Armed police coming into his “safe zone” without a warrant would not have been an option. He would have ended up in handcuffs or at a hospital from the meltdown. If there is a tangible warrant he can read (high functioning) and see they have permission (so to speak) to be there, he would handle it much differently. He does not do well with arbitrary. As a mom, my FIRST DUTY, is to the protection of my childrens physical and MENTAL health. Please note that the police/military did not locate the suspect, an alert homeowner did and the police just responded once the homeowner notified police something was amiss. We have no basement(concrete slab), attic, or outbuildings and due to the open floor plan of our home (purchased with the thought of wheelchair accessibility in mind for #2 son) there is really no place for someone to hide without us knowing they are here. The officers without a warrant would have to take my word for it or get a warrant. If they do get a warrant, fine, I actually don’t have anything to hide (well, maybe a few cheerios or m&ms under the sofa – have a 3 yr old as well) Please consider that once you ignore one right, it gets easier or more expedient to set aside others. What if speaking your mind to disagree with the gov’t or policies was labeled inciting to riot – there goes the first amendment. If you give an inch, typically they take 10 miles.

        • Michael says:

Benjamin Franklin stated,”They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” As in all things pertaining to Human interactions with each other and the Authorities there are a multitude of viewpoints. Your particular case is definitely unique. I agree with the fundamental truth that you have the right to refuse entry by law enforcement without a warrant but this discussion is particular relevant to the situation in Boston. Those homes that were evacuated(as I would phrase the movement of individuals from their homes)would fall into a separate category of Police Action. I have not heard of any individuals involved who were FORCED from their residences without those individuals purposeful agreement or cooperation. I believe that if those Individuals had denied the officers ingress into their property then by LAW the officers would not have been able to enter.

    • Paul Revere says:

Fuck that! Rise up brethren! We cannot call ourselves free Americans if we stand to allow this to happen! Clean your guns, clear the chambers and be ready to defend every freedom we have known in the past, for it will sure be threatened in the future!

    • Leroyspoboys says:

If there was any violation of the Constitution, there would already be hundreds of pending lawsuits drummed up by Yankee ambulance chasing lawyers (many of which whose homes were probably searched as well). There wasn’t a Constitutional violation, so there ain’t no lawsuits. Lessons were learned from 9/11. If one of the 9/11 hijackers were seen parachuting out just before the impact do you really think they wouldn’t have locked down all of Manhattan? By the way, a good chunk of lower Manhattan was actually locked down on 9/11 for three full days. Watertown was only one day.

I know that Watertown neighborhood well. Most of the homes are made of cheap pine and sheet rock. I’d love to see you defend your home when that 19 year old popped off a suicide vest hiding in the house next door(like the one his brother was found wearing) and chunks of pine and sheet rock (and whatever else) went rocketing through the walls of yours.

When a 2×4 or a piece of the fridge from the house next door comes sailing through your window and kills your wife or kid…how how stupid would you feel for not complying with the request (no one was ‘ordered’) to evacuate your home? Also, the majority of places in that very small area of Watertown that was ‘locked down’ are multi-unit buildings. How could you be sure that an apartment above, below or next to your didn’t have a guy with a bomb hiding in it?

When he set off a pipe bomb in the apartment next door (of which they had many) and all the gas mains in your building went up, how smart would you feel spending the rest of your life with 3rd degree burn scars over 90% of your body just because you were too stubborn to evacuate…if you survived at all?

You should really watch those videos and understand whats going on. Not one shows a door being kicked in. Not one shows anyone being ‘forced’ from their home. They were told of the danger and split, many having already pre-packed luggage or allowed to gather some essentials (again look at the video). There hasn’t been a single reported case of someone refusing to leave their home and being forced to. Not one.

      It’s conspiracy theory BS.

      • MolenLabe says:

        Typical Brainwashed Obama Voter.

If you think a 19 year old kid who was bleeding to death from being shot that had no bombs left was a reason to close down all of Boston, especially when they knew he was somewhere in Watertown is a conspiracy then you deserve to have your freedoms taken from you.

        • Leroyspoboys says:

Not an Obama voter at all, that socialist pig should be impeached. Just because I don’t believe the government is ‘out to get us’ or subscribe to Alex Jones’ conspiracy theories like yourself, doesn’t make me a limp-wristed Democrat.

And they had no idea this punk was shot until they saw the blood on the boat tarp..in an area that wasn’t locked down at all.

You should listen to the scanner recordings. Everyone assumed he was carrying explosives, was armed, and in [the wrong] neighborhood.

And all of Boston was not closed down. Here, instead of believing me (with a few dozen close friends that actually live in Boston who confirmed they were moving around freely) watch this:

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnhY8G6hHCY

Doesn’t looked real locked down to me.

And would you have really rather they kept the schools open and had another ‘Sandy Hook’ but this time with pipe bombs…or kept the T open and had another incident like London in 2005? Really? You’d be on this board screaming blue murder they didn’t do enough to prevent an additional attack and saying they should have done a proper ‘lock-down’. Instead of parroting Alex Jones like a broken record.

          Please, get a grip.

          • Leroyspoboys says:

            Answer yourself this.

If the whole area was under ‘lock down’ how did the boat owner get back to his house from just coming back and doing some shopping…just a couple blocks away from where the searches were actively (and mistakenly) going on at the time….and notice the blood stains on his boat tarp? And actually went outside (leaving his house), looked in the boat and saw the guy lying in his boat? Wy wasn’t he blocked from enering his neighborhood with almost 15k FED/LEO/NG personnel in the area if there was a ‘lock-down’? Or as you conspiracy types like to parrot: ‘martial law declared’.

Does that sound like all of Boston was under lock down to you? Or even the immediate neighborhood around the few square blocks in Watertown they were doing the searches in because they found the stolen car? Really? Is what really happened sinking in at all or is the volume on Alex Jone’s webcast just blaring too loud in you mom’s basement for it to get in?

If so, I’ll send you some fresh tinfoil for your hat because your’s is clearly on too tight.

          • Joe says:

You should probably listen to the scanner yourself since it mentions two totally different guys.

          • MolenLabe says:

First off Alex Jones is an idiot and does nothing to help spread the truth, the fact that you brought him up shows who your working (trolling) for. Second if you choose to believe the Obama administration and the mainstream media you go right ahead with that.

Sorry buddy bought the governor himself said the entire city of Boston was under lock down, so nice try. I suppose you no more than the governor of your state.

It’s people like you who cause us to lose our freedoms. So maybe we should just go door to door and take all the guns, put a permanent lock down on the entire country, and then we’ll all be safe according to your logic.

          • BordePatrol says:

If the government cared about our safety they would have immeditly sent these troops to the borders, suspended the passports of all Saudi students and Saudi nationals, stopped patting down kids at the airport and focused on the people who we know are bombing us and stopped trying to intimidate the public.

These police forces did more to terrorize the public than the idiot terrorist. If they have to shits about us they would have never let these two in the country, especially after Russia told the FBI they were dangerous.

  2. Drew says:

Although they did not come search my house most people i talked to could have their house searched or could turn it down. I believe people who lived on the street with the initial firefight could not.

    • DRILL says:

this was a test to see if it could be done. They had no reason to shut down the greater boston area. Maybe Watertown, but why all of Boston? this was done to see if people would comply.

      • derek says:

I think the reason they shut down the city is because the police dept was over whelmed and they did not have the officers to fully patrol the city . yes they had other surrounding towns covering parts of the city but they arent as familiar with the areas like a boston cop is , they had no choice but to shut down the city if they were going to commit all the officers they did .

        • Bozo says:

Dude really? They had the FBI the national guard and the military there. It’s really a damn shame what some Americans are now wiling to accept.

    • Bostonian says:

Sorry but the pictures and the video that are being leaked are from hours before they knew where this guy was so this had nothing to do with protecting a specific street. There are videos from multiple locations throughout Boston.

As Drill said, there is more to what happened than just protecting the public. At best it was cops who were a little to on the edge at worst (and what I think happened) it was the start of something much larger

      • Michael says:

More Rhetoric from the Government Conspiracy Theorist.

  3. Barton says:

I’m speechless so I will just leave a quote that is fitting.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety – Ben Franklin

  4. teapartysucks says:

No one would be complaining if Bush did it. You people are just mad because Obama captured the bad guys and made you idiot republicans look bad.

    • church says:

Obama DID NOT catch him the watertown police and the FBI caught him….. an your so called administration is in a state of total denial… because they were muslim so go play with your commie friends………………LONG LIVE THE TEA PARTY……

      • Leroyspoboys says:

Actually, an average citizen caught him in his boat…after coming home from doing some shopping while everyone was looking in the wrong neighborhood after finding the stolen car on a particular street.

It was a couple blocks away from where the supposed ‘lock-down’ was occurring. And after every agency in the area surrounded the place, and the suspect took a couple pot shots at them from the boat, and the FEDs/LEOs all filled the boat full of bullet holes (and later flash bangs), it was the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority SWAT team that made the final arrest.

Nothing Federal about it except that a few Feds may have helped kill an innocent fishing boat. :)

        • MolenLabe says:

Hmmm…. I guess the thousands of FBI, DHS, & Military who were in town are now somehow not federal huh?

You really are either a moron, or a government agent that is paid to put out disinformation. Sorry DHS agent but we all seen what happened without own eyes this time. Nice job with the clean up of the official story!

    • liberty76 says:

teapartysucks is either paid by the Dems to post to websites like this or thinks he is paying Obama back for him giving him all the food stamps and welfare money. Or he is collecting unemployment and alone looking for someone to talk to. Obviously you do not belong on this website because you believe Obama is your GOD…

      • AllOfUs says:

Everyone’s email is saved and it is said many “agents” are the ones who act and post as ones like the Teapartysucks to draw out more to be on a list to be watched. Just a little FYI.
Everyone but one person…seems fishy too.

    • Mike says:

OMG WTF… Talk about being naïve teapartysucks; Obama did not capture any bad guys, just like he did not capture Osama Bin Laden… trained people with guns did both. This time they infringed on the peoples of Watertown Fourth Amendment Rights provided all of us, you included, from unwarranted searches.

I would be in an uproar about this gross infringement of the Fourth Amendment regardless if it were Obama, Bush, Clinton, Regan, or any other POTUS.

I am not a member of any Tea Party, Republican Party or Democratic Party; I am and always have been registered as an Independent and have voted on both sides of the isle, depending on the individual and how that individual portrays how they will best represent me.

You however, are irrational and probably one of the younger generation that was not ‘left behind’ and probably excitedly participated when all the elementary school children were all lined up by their teachers and forced to sing Obama songs of praise… be careful of false prophets.

  5. Shawn M says:

Yeah, Teapartysucks, because Obama never lied to the people and let the terrorist who masterminded this leave the country at his own request. And he never had his administration lie to the media about it. Nor did he tell congress not to look at the case file of the saudi national, and if they talk about it then they are done. He would never allow the foreign nationals with known terrorist activities to get student visas? And of course he knew nothing about Benghazi, even though it was all going down in the situation room. Yeah, the mighty O would never let a terrorist go, you moron.

  6. Chris says:

I think most people are intimidated by opening their door and seeing several armed policemen shouting for you to get out. I wonder what would have happened had someone said no, you can’t come in without a warrant.

    • Bozo says:

They would have been shot dead or sent immediately to an Obama approved reduction camp.

    • Mike says:

Good point! The posted videos only show gross infringement of Fourth Amendment Rights, some police intimidation, but as expected, no recorded proof of direct harassment or threats of incarceration or other forms of detainment.

And, Since CISPA was passed during the cover of the “Boston Bombing” stories that flooded every network news streams, I would venture those type of incriminating captures would be tagged, flagged and removed ASAP by TPTB.

  7. Rick K says:

It is interesting that these things are being allowed to happen. Former Cold War here and retired journalist. There are too many things that could be coincidences and mistakes that just do not add up. Like, it’s okay to go after American terrorists in one country, but when they go to Russia, it’s illegal to track them? Sounds like an excuse for more intrusion into our privacy. In the Cold War, ugly things happened for the Bigger Picture. The G20 released a report in 2008, that ‘candidate Obama would lead the world into a new world era of peace’ with the establishment of the global government by 2025. You see, in order for these things to be necessary, these ugly things must happen in order to create new laws, new government entities, the need for more citizen control and laws to govern rogue nations. Really, it’s just all about Control and Profit. The circumstancial evidence also demonstrates that the Abrahamic faiths are under attack. Note the 10 Commandments taken out of government buildings. Islam believes those as well as Jews and Christians. Government has even said that Christian military veterans are the potential enemy. The 2009 MIAC report from Missouri was released to the media. Really, as time goes on, for those paying attention to the pattern of human behavior, the rascals behind all this are showing themselves and when everyone becomes keenly aware of what is really going on and that this is all about Control of the 7 billion global population and Profit making, it will be too late. It’s already too late and from a certain point of view, it’s completely necessary. The Control will start in the cities, if I’m correct and I usually am about these things. You must realize that people in cities are completely dependent on corporations and government, so it is logical that they must be Controlled. Poverty makes a great weapon and a war of attrition is effective against Americans too – outsourcing of jobs is a kind of war … genocide, perhaps, since it is targeting a specific group of people and that is the definition, you know. So just pop in a movie, let the cops do their job, comply because you can’t win and this is the future that most of you actually wanted. Isn’t it?

The next time you open your door and welcome them in and offer coffee or tea and they drag your family out, please do NOT ask the crazy pro-gun, pro-Constitutionalists for help…. We will be too busy caring for our own kind! Fucking Idiot!

    • Mike says:

I agree that “teapartysucks” is a foolish follower of the current POTUS and one of the sheeple drinking the Jim Jones Kool-Aid.

  10. Selkirk says:

Yeah, I wonder how many notes these guys were taking as they were looking for the bad guy. If they put one observer with each entry team, they could make a map of every house where somebody wasn’t happy to see them and then pay them a visit six months later.

It would apparently be extremely easy for LEOs to fabricate the circumstances for martial law.

This is not a good precedent.

  11. Travis says:

This is the only website that has said anything about the “door to door” searches of homes. I heard about it on the tv when it was happening and said “I guess the 4th amendment does not apply in Boston now?”.

  12. Mike says:

Now here is a common sense article that comes out of Common Dreams that explains how fear of terrorism constantly instilled by the powers that drive Mainstream Media are done so in order to justify the existence of “these bloated, overfunded police agencies.” Further clarifying “And one means of doing so… is to maintain a ramped-up level of fear, by creating a culture-wide, self-resonating feedback loop of hysteria.”

    http://www.commondreams.org/view/2013/04/26-3

So, all these continued stories in all of the Lamestream Media network news channels is being done on purpose, to scare everyone by utilizing their methods: “The flacks, operatives and enforcers of corporate state/militarist imperium retail in fear, specifically, in false, displaced and exaggerated fears.”
