Family Farm Co-op Raided by Swat Team

The Ohio Department of Agriculture along with local authorities raided a family’s home and confiscated their food supplies. The family runs a small food co-op for friends and neighbors. Police officers used SWAT tactics to burst into the families home and held the them at gun point.
They held the family members including the children at gunpoint and confiscated their personal food supply and property.
Listen to them tell the story of what happened….

What’s with this? Honest people trying to provide a service to their friends and family, and they’re assaulted by the feds, probably under the pretense of health code violations. But you don’t invade a family’s home for a health code violation. You don’t take all their food for a health code violation. You don’t take their computers and hence the means to school their children for a health code violation. This is outrageous, and these people are victims of an overarching scheme to ensure the average citizenry don’t have the capabilities to be self sustaining. What if they had had weapons to defend themselves with? Would this have been WACO 2?
I completely agree that this is outrageous. However it seems that there is an important part of the story missing. What is this letter about that they quickly refer to? What was the reason for the invasion? I doubt there is reasonable justification for the violating thievery, but there is another side to the story that we aren’t hearing. I’m just playing devil’s advocate.
Oh no doubt, there are always two sides to every story, and these people could be leaving out a big part of the story.
I do think it is interesting when things like this happen. It seems a little outrageous that things could be taken to this level, but these days everything is taken to the extreme.
Hey Y’all,
Back when this story broke there were threads on a variety of listservs, comfood, san-net, community gardens, etc. check their archives for indy & MSM accounts & lincs. This is the first I’ve seen of family’s own account. (I have been out since 12/18).
The letter refered to is in response to cease/desist order by ODA. Manna requested assistance in compliance with statutes – ODA never responded. ODA is belligerent (reference the ongoing raw milk labeling fight – pretty much entrapped Stritmyer for giving away milk – lost his wholesale license).
There is some grey area – check out mannas’ website – don’t know that I’d sign that waver. I believe all processes should be transparent – especially when handling dead animals. Farm to consumer is one thing; when middle-handlers enter the equasion I require some assurance (even the smoke & mirrors of USDA/ODA inspection). Avoid the drama and buy from the producer.
Have fun,
Farmer Eric
@ eski…so you are pretty much saying to stop american entreprenurship and become dependant on multi-million dollar corporations and government to take care of us. I think you need to do a bit more research on american history and realize what this country once stood for. You know the saying right, once something becomes to big to handle do with it what you can especially if money is involved. Meaning make products the cheapest way because we need to save as much money as possible, use whatever we have to to make the product cheaper, more addictive and that lessens the life span…you must work for one of them or something. I feel sorry for you and your family
