Our military depends heavely on GPS. From the navy's guns and missles to their very locations of their ships and subs. The Air Forces planes and "smart bombs and guided missiles" to the Army's artillery and troop movement. I have talked to several service members from different branches and all say the same thing that the militaries are not teaching the basic compass navigation classes that they used to. What's to say if an EMP or solar flare takes out our GPS satelites then all of our high speed low drag computorized militaries will be useless! Now think of all those third world countries that only have WW2 equipment that does not need any computors to function - They will have the advantage then. But let's go even further what about in the civillian world? With out GPS or communication satelites our police forces will not be able to function properly along with EMS and firefighters. Not to forget all the airports and shipping. Most trucking companies have GPS locators and trackers on their semis now. However another thought that just crossed my mind is that w/o all those satelites Big Brother will not be able to see what we are doing either. Check out google earth.com some time. I looked up my address and I found that not only could I see my land perfectly but there was photos as if someone took pics of my property from the steets. These photos are so clear I could read the numbers off my house!! Now think if the civillian internet has this capablities then what capablities does the goverment satelites have?
