Sheriffs around the Country Fight Back: We Will Not Let Feds Confiscate Guns
A number of sheriffs from around the country are telling the Obama Administration to stay out of their jurisdictions. In fact, a number of them have told the Obama Administration that they will not allow federal authorities to come into their communities to confiscate guns.
New York Sheriffs Fight Back
New York’s Schoharie County Sheriff Tony Desmond and Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin Jr. are both questioning the legality of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s recent gun control legislation.
Desmond told the New York Daily Star
“Nobody from the Schoharie sheriff’s department is going to be taking any weapons away from anyone unless they have committed a crime,” Desmond said. “An average law-abiding citizen is not going to have to worry about the sheriff’s department coming to take their weapon or arresting them for having a weapon.”
“We don’t have the time to run around and tell everybody to bring their long weapons in to register them,” he said. “We’re just barely keeping up with the pistol permits we have now.”
Kentucky Sheriff tells Obama, “We have more power than the Feds”
Unlawful News reported on a sheriff in Kentucky who is telling the Feds to stay the hell out of his county.
In a press conference earlier this week he told reporters:
“We are a constitutional office and will uphold the Constitution. My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold,” Peyman said. “Let them pull that stuff in other places if they want, but not in Jackson County, Kentucky.”
Alabama’s Madison County Sheriff
Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning told WHNT News 19 Alabama that his office will not enforce any new gun control legislation that violates the Second Amendment.
Minnesota Sheriff sends open letter on Gun Control
In Minnesota, Pine County Sheriff Robin Cole wrote an open letter to country residents saying the federal government does not have the right to tell the states how to regulate firearms. He went on to say that his office will not enforce any Unconstitutional federal gun control mandates.
Oregon Sherrif to Obama: “I will not permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations.
An Oregon sheriff, Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller, sent a letter to the White House informing them that he will not enforce any federal regulation that President Barack Obama or Congress mandates on the American people.
