Ever wonder why it seems like you just can’t get ahead? Where did all your money go?
In 2007:
- Gold went from about $600 to $840/oz
- Oil went from approx. $50 to $96 a barrel
- Wheat went from approx. $4 to $8.4/bu.
- The Price of eggs is 43 cents higher than a year ago
With the price of everything going up food is skyrocketing out of control. Over the next few months we are going to highlight ways to grow your own food and become self sufficient so that no matter how high prices go, you will not have to worry.
Things you can do right now:
- Start an herb garden. Herbs can be grown on your window sill.
- Build an indoor greenhouse and start growing your own vegetables
- Get Some Chickens! Raising chickens is starting to become very popular, even in big cities. With the price of eggs going up this alone could save you a lot of money. It is also better than eating those hormone filled things at your local supermarket.
- Stockpile some food. Keep things that pack a big nutritional pouch (beans, nuts, rice, etc.)
- Buy a spouter – Growing sprouts is easy and very nutritious
- Invest in a Bread maker – Store bought bread is expensive and full of junk that your body doesn’t need.
- Farmers Market – Locally grown food can be a great way to save a little cash and farmers markets are an god source for finding cheap organic food.
- Hypermiling – Way to save gas Money
