CDC WARNING: Mystery Virus Causing Paralysis in Children

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a warning yesterday about a mysterious polio-like virus that’s causing acute neurological illness and paralysis in children. The virus seems to be related to the nationwide epidemic of EV-D68 that we reported on during the first weeks of the outbreak.

The CDC is investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado children to see if enterovirus 68 (EV-D68) might be the virus responsible for the neurological symptoms.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday issued a Health Advisory to doctors about the polio-like cases in Colorado, and said EV-D68 was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who were tested for the virus.

The CDC says the mysterious illness is characterized by “focal limb weakness and abnormalities of the spinal cord gray matter on MRI.”  The cases, which are just now being made public, occurred between August 9 – September 17 among children aged 1-18 years old (with a median age of 10 years-old).

The nine children who have been confirmed to have this neurological illnesses all had fever and respiratory illness about two weeks before developing varying degrees of limb weakness. Health officials don’t think it’s polio because eight of the nine children are up to date on their polio vaccinations.

The CDC, in their health advisory, confirmed that they are looking into the possibility that the nationwide outbreak of EV-D68 is causing the polio-like illness. They are asking doctors form around the country to be on the lookout for similar cases and to report any similar neurological illnesses to the CDC.

The Mysterious Virus that really isn’t a Mystery!

As we reported in our first article on the EV-D68 outbreak, the CDC and our Federal government is completely ignoring the fact this this virus seems to have been spread by illegal immigrants who’ve been dumped throughout the country – thanks in large part to the Obama administration.

Although it’s received very little mainstream media coverage, the current outbreak of EV-D68 is common to El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua, three countries where a bulk of the illegal immigrant children come from. These unaccompanied illegal immigrant children have been allowed into the nation’s school systems without medical screenings, and without required vaccinations.

The CDC may be pretending that they have no idea where this outbreak came from, but for months now similar neurological illness outbreaks have been occurring in border towns throughout the U.S.. In fact, back in February of 2014 an outbreak of a polio-like illness caused as many as 25 children in California to come down with paralyzed limbs and little hope of recovery. According to the BBC, at least five of these cases were directly linked to enterovirus-68, proving the CDC has known about this outbreak for quite some time now.

In July of 2014, the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that communicable diseases were being spread throughout detention centers setup to house incoming illegal immigrant children. These children were then being dumped in unsuspecting communities around the country.

The report said, “Many UAC and family units require treatment for communicable diseases, including respiratory illnesses, tuberculosis, chicken pox, and scabies,” the IG report said. “UAC and family unit illnesses and unfamiliarity with bathroom facilities resulted in unsanitary conditions and exposure to human waste in some holding facilities.”

Unless this government starts to control the crisis at the border, this is only the beginning. When you allow entire populations of people into a country without medical screenings, the results are actually quite predictable.

This isn’t a mystery; it’s well-known medical science. This is exactly why we once required medical screenings of all incoming immigrants, and why we built special islands in New York’s Harbor to quarantine incoming ships. When you introduce new populations to a country, you introduce diseases that have not been seen in that area. You also immediately increase the risk of deadly disease outbreaks.

What a load of crap ~ I can’t believe this is written to warn us about disease and then jumps immediately into some freaky/fascist, fear-mongering bigotry so unbelievable it is embarrassing.

    Shame on you.

Can’t dispute the facts if the article so instead make baseless allegations that Just show your ignorance. The fact is, everything the article says is true. My grandparents came through the quarantine stations and understood it was for their protection and the protection of the country.

What’s amazing is we now have idiot liberals that are so scared to offend someone that they would rather put an entire country at risk than actually follow solid proven medical practices and sensible immigration policies. It’s not bigotry to want to protect the country. It’s not bigotry to stop INFECTED people from spreading disease.

You’re absolutely right, Joe. It’s amazing to me how ignorant these people are. They go on and on about conservatives hating science, and here they go trashing decades of medical science for their politically correct B.S. Please, Hayet, spare us your foolishness.

I am a liberal but I still believe we should follow immigration medical checks-quarantine practices to spare our country from disease. It was an odd transition in the article but it was important message to share. My children have asthma and all their vaccines but I’m terrified my children will get this. With the Ebola and Ev-d68, strict immigration practices are so important to protect our people regardless of liberal or conservative views. It shouldn’t be political. .it should be the way we all want to protect ourselves and our children.

Shame on you hayet. It’s ignorance like yours that has puts us all at risk. You do realize that allowing unscreened immigrants into this country affects everyone right?

What you should be embarrassed of is your lack of common sense. If you’re such the great human being how about we ship these infected immigrants right to your home and you can care for them. The article never stated immigration was bad. It highlights the consequence of unscreened illegal immigrants flooding a nation.

Well I immigrated here from Mexico and the author is right on. I don’t want infected people coming here and infecting my kids. How the hell is that fear-mongering? By the way Mexico doesn’t allow people to come across their Southern Borders so are they fascists? They have stricter immigration policies that the U.S.

Hayet… why is this a load of crap now? How is this bigotry and fascist? Are you just stupid? Seriously.. what we are seeing is the exact same thing that happened in the early 1900’s when immigration practices started seeing all kinds of diseases. My grandparents, on both sides brought over things like lice, other communicable infections and they were quarantined on Ellis Island. Normal immigration handles it the exact same way currently, except now for the borders. Which have been opened up.

We have NOTHING preventing this kind of outbreak and for you to demonize the story because your tongue is apparently up the administrations ass, you default to calling the writer a fascist and a bigot. Get your head out of your ass.

Hayet…this website OBVIOUSLY isn’t for you, since you have no idea whatsoever how to Survive a crisis, let alone how to process imperative information, which, by the way, has SOUND SCIENCE and historical evidence to support it! Why don’t you just move along now to the Illegal Immigrants page where you so obviously belong. Or better yet: GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY and infect them with your stupid idiotic comments!

I remember hearing some limited news coverage about polio-like symptoms in the migrant children coming over the southern border. Lice and tuberculosis were also mentioned in the same news coverage.

When all of a sudden I started hearing reports about the paralysis in US children, I immediately started to think back to those reports about the migrant children and polio-like symptoms.

I am astonished that the media does not appear to be looking into any connection. Are we now so politically correct that the health and well-being of our own children no longer matters?

The Obama administration would not release any info as to what schools in what states these migrant children were sent to citing their “right to privacy.”

I know that American citizens are covered by the HIPPA act (Healthcare Privacy) but really do not know the answer to whether or not undocumented aliens are covered under this law the same as US citizens are.

Right now the Ibola virus case in Texas is frightening.
I heard one report where the victim was identified as a Liberian national. We also know that he is a male adult.

Other than that, we do not know much else.

I pray that this virus does not spread here, as well.

This is serious stuff and we need to do what we can to protect our country. Get the word out to relay our concerns to our representatives at the state and national level to investigate whether enterovirus 68, the polio-like disease, and other diseases are coming from the miss-guided placement of illegal immigrants throughout the US and not placing them in quarantine first. We’ve got to throw out those politicians who ignore the dangers of not ensuring our citizens are safe from diseases that are coming into the country. Vote carefully!
