Colorado to Ban ALL Pump & Semi-Automatic Shotguns

Most hunting and self-defense shotguns could be banned by a bill that’s making its way through the Colorado Legislator.

ShotgunsState Senator Greg Brophy is warning Colorado residents that the high capacity magazine clause in House Bill 1224, would instantly make almost all pump and semi-automatic shotguns illegal in the State of Colorado.

The bill, which prohibits the sale, transfer, or possession of an ammunition feeding device that is capable of accepting, or that can be readily converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition or more than 5 shotgun shells, would make almost every hunting shotgun illegal in the State of Colorado.

Because most modern shotguns have the ability to accept an extender tube, these shotguns would fall under the bills readily convertible clause, and classify them as high capacity magazine devices. After July, 1 2013, Colorado residents will be unable to sell, transfer or even lend one of these firearms to anyone without committing a crime. This means a father would not even be able to let his own son fire his shotgun while out hunting.

The bill has already passed the house, and Colorado Governor Hickenlooper says he’s going to sign it once the Senate passes the bill, which is expected to happen on Monday.

All that’s doing is allowing criminals to have unarmed victims. This is a pointless bill i will never understand why the government victimizes law abiding citizens. This won’t affect gun violence at all.

They are the criminals and they DO want us unarmed. They are definetly not worried about any citizens safety, only they’re safety.

Defy these unconstitutional laws! Massive resistance through non-compliance is the only answer now. If we all defy them, and law enforcement refuses to enforce them, they’ll have no choice but to repeal them or risk complete lawlessness.

At the end of the video clip, she said that democrats were drafting an amendment to the bill, but no word on what that amendment would say or if it would pass. They keep pushing and pushing, trying and trying, and they only have to succeed once. We only have to fail to stop them once. Then guns are gone (well, outlawed anyway). I would say that we should make a constitutional amendment to protect our gun rights…but we already have one of those. They just don’t acknowledge it.

Prohibition was an amendment. Modifying it (when they repealed it) required another amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is an amendment. Modifying it must also be an amendment. I’m not saying it couldn’t ever or shouldn’t ever be done (we could all conceive of some convoluted situation where some type of gun restriction law would be appropriate), but to be done lawfully an amendment to the constitution must be made. All these other gun control laws (whether good or bad) are unconstitutional.

Having said that, states are supposed to be able to trump the fed in all but a few areas and this might be one of them. I’d have to review. But even so, I’m guessing you would need an amendment to your state constitution. I’m not sure what Colorado’s constitution says so I may be on thin ice here.

But it’s still a bad law. I’m confident of that.

…no, I’m pretty sure the 2nd amendment is the trump card in this.

I find this bill to be stupid as fuck. The National Rifle Association should find loopholes around bills like these. Also one last thing before I go here they never said anything about Fully Automatic Shotguns like the AA-12 dont know much about it but can you get a 4 Round magazine.

    • Jimmy
      March 3, 2013 at 4:58 pm

First of all, you need a federal license in order to obtain any fully automatic weapon. Second, the AA 12 to my knowledge is not yet available for purchase even with a license. Finally, an automatic weapon with 4 rounds is pointless. Automatic weapons are actually a lot less dangerous than people think, because you may indeed be able to fire off so many rounds so quickly, but the problem is that they probably wont find their target.

On that note, gun laws are all arbitrary.

Why do you need guns with that many rounds? Lousy hunters or just lousy human beings?

So they are doing nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, just law abiding citizens. Well here’s another State that conservatives know to stay out or move out of. I guess the States don’t have to worry about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

What a shame, Colorado is such a beautiful state… sucks it had to fall to the communists. Oh well, one more shit hole to avoid. And to those still in Colorado looking for a new state that actually acknowledges the Constitution, come south to sunny Arizona, my friends… we have some of the most liberal gun laws in the country (<— see what I did there? "Liberal" gun laws? haha).

On a side note, I am curious, though… when all of these idiot states do actually drive off all the "gun nuts" with thier socialist B.S., who in those states are going to be left working and paying taxes to cover DallasJim and El's food stamps?
