Decorated Combat Veteran arrested in New York: Charged with 5 felonies for possession AR magazines

This is an old article, the article on the situation in Putnam County New York can be seen here https://offgridsurvival.com/red-flag-gun-control-standoff-with-afghan-war-veteran-in-new-york/

Army Vet Nathan Haddad

In the latest attack on the American people, a decorated War Hero has been arrested and charged with five counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon, for having empty 30 round AR-15 Magazines in his vehicle.

On Sunday January 6th Staff Sgt. Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran, was driving through Jefferson County New York when he was randomly pulled over for a vehicle check. Haddad, who had five 30 round empty magazines in his possession, was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and charged with five felony counts.

According to Haddad’s brother, Michael Haddad, Nathan thought these magazines were legally made before the New York Assault Weapons Ban. When Nathan Haddad was arrested the new ban had not even been fully enacted yet.

This is not a criminal, this is not some thug looking to hurt people; this is a decorated combat veteran who was recently honored by the Philadelphia chapter of Blue Star Mothers and the Union League’s Armed Services Council for helping disabled vets get back on their feet. What’s happening to Army veteran Nate Haddad is an absolute attack on liberty. Here we have a man who honorably served his country, who was trusted with weaponry that far exceeded anything he was carrying, that now finds himself facing the possibility of spending years in prison.

Still think these gun control laws are meant to stop criminals?

Nathan Haddad’s brother has set up a legal defense fund for his brother who cannot afford to fight these charges on his own. We ask that you share this story with everyone you know so that this attack on Hassad is seen for what it is, an attack on every law-abiding citizen in America.

  1. The reason he was arrested is this, there already was a ban on any hi-cap magazine made after september of 1994 in NY. The assault weapons ban never sunsetted in the empire state. The only preban mags legal where made before 1994. Now those are illegal too, at a future date.

  2. What a tragedy in America. The liberal media, specifically David Gregory can possess and flaunt an “illegal” magazine while in Washington DC and nothing happens. But a HERO is charged. This country is in such a decline.

  3. Many of you have cited the NY AWB and that hi-cap mags were illegal. You are partially correct in that any hi-cap mag manufactured before 1994 were still legal in NY until the NYSAFE ACT on 15jan13. you simply could not purchase new hi-cap mags.

    Is it Haddad or Hassad?

  5. new york………………..i hope he sues you and that dumbass of a gov. you have for everything you have.what a bunch of butt wipes. and the jefferson county dept. are all a bunch of idiots

  6. As a 31 year veteran as a deputy sheriff I am ashamed of the deputy who made this decision, obviously this deputy is by the book and has not used the desecration and common sence he should have learned in training. Some departments will let this type of officer slip through and it is to bad this hero ran into that 1% er. I hope this man gets his day in front of a conservative and resonable Judge. God bless him

    • This is ridiculous. The government can ask this man to protect his country and its interests with these instruments yet they won’t let him have these items to protect his family. As for the deputy that arrested this man, descretion should have been used. Law enforcement and military are suppose to be brothers in arms. We all wear a different uniform but serve in different geographical locations. Law enforcement protect our backyard while we military members serve outside the U.S. Non descretion like this could put a wedge between law enforcement and vetereans in the future if this keeps happening. I hope tax payers dollars are not being used to prosecute this guy. I am a veteran and am totally disgusted by this. It is an insult to men and women of uniform. When the government comes to take your weapons and start to take our America’s liberties, this countries best line of defense are its veterans. Very upset by this!!!

  7. I hope that the people who have started the gun ban has a person reading blogs, because look at all the irate comments that have came from just one arrest for some empty mags, can you imagine if people get arreeted for having a gun in their hom????????

  8. For those of you taking the time to call or write the Sheriff, be sure to also let him know what you think of him giving his deputy a slap on the wrist after the deputy was recently found slumped over the steering wheel of his patrol car with a bottle of Red Stag…

  9. A crime has been committed and the real perpetrators belong in jail. So I must ask; when will the police start locking up the all of the co-conspirator public officials? Here in N.Y. we should start with the Governor and Legislators. They have knowingly and with with intent, violated their sworn oath of office.by voting to deprive us of our constitutional rights. The oppressive criminal bastards have infringed upon the law abiding citizen’s right “to keep and bear arms.” Their duty in office was to uphold the most important and sacred laws of our land. Simply voting these criminal public officials out of office is not good enough. They became oppressors and violated the Constitution and are now criminals. Put them in prison where they belong. I’m not saying “Off With Their Heads”. Though that may be what they deserve.

Americans citizen soldiers have fought and died for freedom. They fought a revolution to become free (1775–83). The next revolt will be to restore, preserve, and protect the Constitution. Hopefully it will start and end at the ballot box. If that doesn’t work the fight could end up in the streets. Hopefully if that time comes, it will be before all law abiding citizens are effectively disarmed by a powerful and growingly oppressive government. Vote the subversive criminal bastards out of office before they undermine the Constitution and start another violent bloody war for freedom.

Remember Democratic principles never work for long when a majority of voters oppress the minority. Just look at what’s happening today in countries like Egypt. A dictatorial government was overthrown by violence in the streets. A democratically elected government whose intent is to oppress the minority and violate their right to live freely and in peace, was installed by a majority vote. And again there is violence in the streets.

Criminals and the criminally insane will not obey gun laws. Disarming law abiding citizens doesn’t stop violent crime it creates defenseless victims and makes it easier for this oppressive but democratically elected government to take away even more of my rights as well as yours. Big government, as in America, has become a costly burden and harder, NO! Make that near impossible, to control. Right now we are on the border of impossible. It’s time to jamb hard on the brakes before it’s to late.

  10. Since I wasn’t present during the arrest, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the odds of him ONLY having the magazines in his possession are very slim. Being a combat veteran myself, my guess is that along with the magazines he probably had other job related equipment in his possession. Not because he felt the need to be prepared for an “imaginary fire fight”, but instead because of the fact that he is an E-6 an likely has off-post housing and must transport a lot of assigned TA-50 (equipment for you non-vets) on a regular basis.
With that being said, those of you that say it still isn’t a judgement call for the police officer and the officer was merely upholding the law, feel free to report to every law-enforcement office of any & every city/county/state that you have ever gotten away with breaking/bending a law and confess.
No? Don’t want to do that? How about stop whatever you’re doing right now and rush to the first arm forces recruiting station and volunteer for any branch of service you choose? Still no? Then “At ease the noise!”

  11. I travel to the state of NY as well as NYC twice a month and have so for years. In my waistband was and will be a Glock 19 and two spare magazines. FcKK NY’s unconstitutional laws.
Totally contrary to the New Yorkers I served with in the Army to go along with this pathetic merde.

  12. Wow, tell me we don’t live in a police state. They had no right to pull you over. They certainly had no right to seacrh your car.

  13. I want to add this… Even if this man wasn’t a decorated military vet, this whole situation is an abomination. We are ALL entitled to not be treated like criminals for exercising God-given Constitutional rights.

  14. WTF. Hold off on the debate on laws affecting 2nd amendment for a minute, what about violation of the the 4th (unreasonable search and seizure). Random stops can check for safety related items (license, inspection, insurance, not drunk, etc.), it should not have expand to a search for ‘contraband’.

  15. Did anyone catch this part?

“when he was randomly pulled over for a vehicle check.”

Since when is a “random vehicle check” legal within the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution?
