Georgia Democrats Introduce State Bill to Confiscate Firearms from Gun Owners

Democrats in Georgia have introduced a bill in the state House of Representatives that will require the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to seize “certain weaponry and ammunition” that is deemed as contraband. The bill will effectively ban so-called “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines”, and make law-abiding citizens into criminals.

AR 15 with Georgia Flag

The bill –HB 731 – was introduced by fifteen Democrat women House members and is sponsored by Mary Margaret Oliver (D-83rd), Stacey Abrams (D-89th), Carolyn Hugley (D-136th), Pat Gardiner (D-57th), Dar’shun Kendrick (D-93rd), Dee Dawkins-Haigler (D-91st).

According to the text of the bill, certain weapons would be required to be seized by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The text of HB 731 says that the sale, possession or distribution of “any assault weapon” will come at a high cost to the people of Georgia. It Reads:

“No person shall possess, distribute, transport, transfer, or sell any assault weapon,” it reads. “Any person who distributes, transports, or imports an assault weapon into this state shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than two nor more than ten years.”

Information posted on the sponsor’s website, Mary Margaret Oliver (D-83rd), says the bill will “ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.”

Oliver went on to say in her statement, “Georgia needs debate about these weapons which are only used for rapidly killing people.”… “Assault weapons are not necessary for deer hunting.”

If you had any doubt about the ultimate goal of the anti-gun politicians who claim they are only trying to stop criminals look no farther than what’s happening in Georgia. These people have finally admitted what their goal really is, the confiscation of law-abiding citizens firearms.

Why ban a type of firearm that has killed less people than hammers?

While the mainstream media would like you to believe these so-called assault rifles are somehow responsible for killing millions of people, the truth is, more people are killed by blunt objects every year than are killed by all types of rifles combined. According to the F.B.I.’s own statistics, you are more likely to be killed by someone’s “hands or feet” than you are to be killed by an AR15 — or all rifles combined for that matter.

Well, I hope there are enough common sense people in the Georgia House to over turn this. This is starting to be way to common, states over stepping federal law and banning guns. This is exactly how the Dems in DC plan on getting around congress and banning guns. If every gun owner in America does not get out and vote this year and vote for a second amendment candidate, we may all loose our rights.

After reading this bill, if I lived in Georgia I would be heading for a better state. I hope gun owning business owners close their businesses and relocate them as well. I definitely will not be doing any more business with anyone in Georgia, if they pass this.

They never had a snowball’s chance in hell of passing such a bill and they knew it. The state is controlled by 2/3 republicans and it will stay that way.

@ USPatriot, one thing that I have learned in 60 plus yrs is never to say never. One thing is for sure and that is “never” will happen sooner than you expect and faster than you than expect.

This was all for show. Most of these traitorous democrats will be run out of the state and the others will fear for the rest of their days in the state. Patriots in Georgia don’t take traitors that attempt to take away rights lightly. If they want war then a war they can get since defending constitutional rights is a case for revolt. It’s far past time to stop allowing these totalitarians traitors to walk free and start putting them in prison for their crimes against the people and the constitution.

problem, this goes DIRECTLY against the constitution and it’s EXACT and CANNOT be MISINTERPRETED EX POST FACTO clause.

if you owned it before the law, you can own it after, there is no prosecuting people for criminal charges AFTER THE FACT. challenge this law on that basis alone and watch it fall in federal supreme court.

I am surprised people in Georgia are not literally up in arms over this calling for a public tarring, feathering, and hanging.

What does gun confiscation and Obamacare have in common? The first time Obamacare was put in the Congress it failed. When the democrats took over though it blazed through with flying colors. It’s the same with gun confiscation. Test the waters, and wait until the political winds shift and then it’s the law of the land. God help us all when they finally bulldoze these laws through and we are left with the choice of surrender or die. The latter sounds good to me…surrender has such a liberal tone to it. Agreed?!

Yet another example of why we all need to give some extensive consideration to the state we live in, since the Federal Government is completely out of our control. State governments will be our last refuge from a tyrannical Socialist government. Some people are considering relocating to more conservative states. If a Democrat is elected president, I will be looking at another country. Turning to God is our last hope. The American people need to open their eyes to what is happening to us and vote accordingly.

Do the dumbass dem women really think that the bad guys are going to give up thier illegal weapons?
Over and over again, we try abd tell the idiots that if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.
If you take a look at who is pushing the gun bans, most of them have body guards that carry and the others will soon.

It should be a felony for ANYONE to propose a law that undermines the Constitution. Punishable by no less than two years and no more than ten years in Federal prison.

These liberal fools will stop at nothing less than the takeover of our Country by the UN. Then we will all be subjects of the USSA. NO guns, No rights. The first of our rights has already been taken away. The right to life. “Guns don’t kill people, Abortion kills people.” Sarah Palin had it right when she said “We will keep our God and our Guns. You can keep the change.”

Ms. Oliver should focus on education, family values, and criminal activity in her district instead of something she knows nothing about. It seems the second amendment means nothing to her. I wonder how she would react if someone challenged her first amendment rights that give her the ability to be so foolish.

2nd amendment. People, you need to read this amendment properly and understand to the fullist.

If gov tries to take away your guns you are allowed to defend your rights.

This is why the forefathers wrote this amendment and others to protect this country and the people who live here.

Assault is a verb. No such thing as an “Assault Weapon” A weapon cannot assault anyone. It takes a human to assault another human. Hillary assaulted Bill with an ashtray. Never heard of an “Assault Ashtray”.

Support for Second Amendment education. Wearing T-shirt with slogans or any such thing to keep the issue alive in the consciousness of the less informed could be helpful. Our people in the U.S. seem to need to believe that it is a popular and generally held position before they can go one way or the other on any issue. Let’s do our part to let them know it is OK to protect themselves. And that it is cool, hip, you know like trendy or whatever.

This is unconstitutional! The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

    Note: shall NOT be infringed

Several Supreme Court justices have already said that gun ownership is not a personal right. The next president may be able to appoint as many as 3 new justices due to the age of the court. A second amendment supporter is imperative to be elected if we want to enjoy the freedoms afforded us through the Second Amendment
