This week, the Pew Research Center released a shocking poll; over 44% of American homes now have at least 1 firearm.
But Liberals keeps saying Guns are the Problem… With so many guns, why is Crime Actually Down?
So according to the Anti-Gunners, with all these extra guns on the streets, we should be seeing more gun related murders than ever. After all, they keep telling us that guns are the problem. Well, not so fast!
It seems the Anti-gun arguments have fallen flat because according to the latest FBI Crime statistics, violent crime is actually down in most of the United States. In fact, the only place violent crime has risen is in Democrat run cities that have tyrannical gun laws, making it almost impossible for law-abiding citizens to buy or carry a firearm.
Since we are talking about records, let’s take a look at the records being set in the city of Chicago. So far this year, Chicago has hit an all-time high of 2,858 shootings. Keep in mind, this is in a city that makes it virtually impossible for law-abiding citizens to even own a gun.
Chicago is turning into an absolute hellhole, but it’s not the guns that are causing the problem, it’s the hundreds of thousands of gang members and criminals roaming the streets that have actually made the city more dangerous than the war zones of Afghanistan and Iraq. The problem here is the politicians don’t want to acknowledge what the real threat is.
July Was 15th Straight Month Of Record Gun Sales
According to the latest figures from the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), July 2016 was the 15th consecutive month of record background checks for gun sales.
The record-breaking trend began in May 2015, when 1,580,980 checks set the record for the highest number of background checks performed in any May on record. Since then the record breaking pace has continued month after month, smashing previous monthly records in some cases by an additional 600,000 background checks in a single month.
In June of this year, right after the Orlando Florida Terrorist attacks, the FBI conducted about 2.1 million background checks on people attempting to purchase firearms. That’s a 40% increase from June of 2015, which at the time set a record high for background checks when about 1.5 million checks were conducted.
This year alone, between January 1 and July 31, 2016, there have been a total of 16,026,660 background checks performed. While the NICS numbers don’t guarantee the background check will go on to become a completed sale, keep in mind that once the background check is completed, a single person can buy multiple firearms making it possible that the number of guns sold may be much higher than the number of background checks performed.
