GUN SALES SURGE: Are American Waking Up?

With a never-ending barrage of anti-gun rhetoric coming out of Washington D.C., Americans are fighting back with their wallets. A day after President Barack Obama won his reelection, stocks from firearms manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Ruger shot through the roof. And now, Smith & Wesson is reporting that they had a 48% increase in firearms sales and a quarterly profit of $21.2 million dollars.

In a Press Release from Smith & Wesson

“Net sales from continuing operations for the second quarter were a record $136.6 million, up 48.0% from the second quarter last year.  The increase was led by continued strong sales across all of the company’s firearm product lines, including…. pistols, modern sporting rifles, and the recently launched Shield™ pistol designed for concealed carry and personal protection. “

Gun Sales Setting All Time Record Highs

RifleIt’s not just Smith & Wesson who is seeing a surge in Gun Sales. Across the board gun sales are surging through the roof. In fact, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), this last Black Friday set a new single-day record for point-of-sale background checks by the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The number of people trying to buy a firearm beat last year’s record by over 20 percent.

As we pointed out in the past, these record sale numbers really shouldn’t be that shocking. With the reelection of President Obama and his call in the third debate for a renewed ban on semiautomatic firearms, there is no doubt Americans are fearful of what may be coming.

In my opinion, they have good reason to be fearful. Less than 24 hours after his reelection, President Obama sent word to the U.N., that he would be backing their attempts to reopen the arms treaty talks. The U.N. Small Arms Treaty would effectively place a global ban on the import and export of all small firearms and enact an international gun registry that would require all guns to be registered through the U.N.

Are People are Waking Up?

Multiple Guns Hanging on a WallWhether it’s the reelection of President Obama that’s causing the spike in sales, or the fear of an economic collapse caused by the government’s insatiable appetite for debt, I think people are finally waking up to the fact that our 2nd Amendment is one of the most precious rights we hold. It’s the one right that not only seeks to protect our liberty, but it also guarantees us the right to protect ourselves from the criminals who wish to do us harm.

As Washington politicians scurry to figure out ways to restrict our right to bear arms, Americans are making it known that they will not go along this time. With huge increases in the number of people buying firearms, it becomes harder and harder for these politicians to pass laws that would make them illegal.

“As Washington politicians scurry to figure out ways to restrict our right to bear arms….”

Washington, wake up. That horse has left the barn. You’d be wise to jump onto that saddle and go along for the ride. You have 140 million armed adult citizens – is that a fight you really want to start?

The other ‘half’ is mostly children who can’t own guns. You can muster maybe 5 million if you count all serving military and local LEOs and fed agents – and most of them are included in that 140 million. So you won’t know until you give the order to fire on citizens whether or not they value their jobs over their homes and families. I’d bet my life on the families.

And if you bet wrong, what will happen then?

Excellent article. The reason we have the 2nd amendment was to protect our freedom and liberty from all enemies ranging from invading forces to possibly our own tyrannical government. Japan did not invade us because, according to Isoroku Yamamoto, there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass. The UN and Mr. Obama, along with all the idiot would-be gun grabbers, need to realize how our country was founded and what keeps us strong. It sure isn’t the excellent leadership.

That said, the liberals and all our other rejecters need to wake up and realize men with guns fought and died for the freedom these people have to protest, live without morals, and exercise free speech. And they use that free speech to complain about everything they don’t like and aren’t intelligent enough to realize that if we lose one freedom, then freedom of speech is next, then another freedom, then another freedom. Just my two cents.

One last thought: As for the UN treaty and anything else that systematically abolishes our Constitution and Declaration of Independence, each of the brave, intelligent, and resourceful people that joined our military swore an oath to protect our Constitution. Not a socialist administration. Remind them of that every chance you get.

One more thought: The evidence pointed out in the above article demonstrates that many Americans still value their freedom to choose, to hunt, enjoy shooting sports and outdoors, and to defend themselves. I urge people to take part in the political process and contact your representatives to let them know you expect them to support our rights before it is too late. They, including Mr. Obama, know that the majority of us gun owners are not terrorists, murderers, or thieves, but hard working, tax-paying citizens who have a hobby as old as the country itself. I would never dream of using a gun or any other weapon against innocent people or in a crime and just because some people would does not mean that people like me should be punished. I love my country and those who actively support it. Hang in there folks; we will win in the long run.

If that treaty passes it will be a direct act of war on every gun owning American. Unfortunately many gun owning Americans aren’t even fit to use them, so many Americans are fat, lazy, and unfit to go against trained soldiers. I pray to God that if this has to happen it happens in my lifetime, so that my children never have to see the horrors of war. God be with us all

i am a soldier and most of my friends are aswell and we would NEVER acept a fire order or any other order that include punishing US citizens for owning firearms to include the rumors of door to door takeing of said fire arms in our oath and our laws/rules we would say “i can not obay a non lawful order” and we would ban togeather to help our fellow americans and protect them. id like to see the govnt try to stop a unit of trained infantry and artilery soldiers from protecting their belief in the right to bare arms. i always feel better after venting on here. thanks for this awesome site.

It’s been theorized that when the time comes it will be U.N. troops that will make the gun grab. I’m betting that the majority of our forces will be engaged well outside the U.S. when it goes down. And remember that at any particular time there are up to several hundred thousand foreign troops here in the U.S. for training. And that training is often in door-to-door searches, gun confiscation, and running concentration camps.

are people waking up to the fact that our freedoms are being stripped away at lightening speed now or are they simply concerned that one avenue of personal enjoyment may be in jeopardy..?? this is a question, NOT a judgement…

  7. There is little doubt the New Obama Administration will make another run at the assault weapon ban. I hope they don’t get as far as they did last time.

  8. I think the biggest increase in value will be in 30 round magazines and such for guns that will not be limited by the ban if it gets reinstated.

As a soldier, I would not follow any orders to confiscate any weapons from ANY American. I would stand with them and fight with them, against all enemies foreign and domestic.
