Lafayette, Louisiana Theater Shooting: Another Mass Shooting in a GUN-FREE Zone

At least three people were shot dead, and another seven injured at a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater tonight.

Grand Theatre 16 Lafayette, Louisiana

The shooting happened inside the Grand Theatre 16, and according to local police involved multiple victims. Police Chief Jim Craft said in a news conference that authorities had identified the gunman as a 58-year-old white man, but did not release his name, citing an ongoing background check. The chief added that the conditions of the injured victims ranged from critical to non-life-threatening.

The shooting happened about 20 minutes into a 7 p.m. showing of the movie “Train Wreck,” according to The Daily Advertiser, which quoted theatergoer Katie Domingue.

“We heard a loud pop we thought was a firecracker,” Domingue told the newspaper. Domingue said she saw “an older white man” standing up and shooting down into the theater, but not in her direction.

Another Shooting in a Gun-Free Zone

While the mainstream media is already jumping on the gun control bandwagon, bringing on all sort of experts who insist that more gun control laws would have stopped this, they have yet again failed to report that this theater already had policies banning guns. Just like last week’s mass shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, tonight’s shooting happened in another gun-free zone.

According to the Theaters website, guns are banned inside the theater. The website reads:

Possession of firearms or weapons of any kind regardless of whether openly or concealed, with or without a permit.

Over the next couple of days we are likely to hear increased calls for more gun laws, discussions about what type of gun was used, and speculation on how the shooter obtained the gun. What you won’t hear is anyone in the media talking about how we can defend ourselves from these types of violent attacks.

As I pointed out last week, and every time one of these psychopaths commits one of these horrific crimes, since 1950 all but two of this country’s mass shootings have taken place in a designated gun-free zone. These gun-free zones are dangerous, and until the political idiots who setup these zones admit they are harming more people than they are helping, these psychopaths are going to continue targeting the defenseless because they know they can get away with it.

Did any one ask how many people didn’t carry because it was a gun free zone. Not likely.

That’s not the point. The point is gunmen like this target places they know law abiding citizens won’t be carrying their firearms.

It’s our duty as America’s to protect one another. It should be taught in every school fire arm safety and ownership.

So…..What is YOUR solution?? Arm everyone, everywhere? No offence, but I do not trust anyone carrying anything. There are just too many nutballs out there to satisfy me. Even here in Arizona where it is legal to carry in a lot places. If I see somone carrying, I head the other way. You cannot legislate COMMON SENSE, because the vast majority of folks don’t have it. You cannot legislate INTENT either. You have no idea what that slack jawed so in so walking down the street or walking into a store or walking into YOUR place of bussiness or even into your home carring a weapon has in mind. So please feel free to enlighten me on what YOU would do.

And that is working so well now.

Seriously, my choosing to carry a firearm does not infringe your right to not carry one. I have had a background check conducted by the FBI, received approved training in firearms safety, and I choose to carry. BUT I would not have been there to stop this nutball – because when I see the “Gun-Free Zone”, I take my business elsewhere.

true common sense, is that the individual who is calmly walking around minding his own business progressing through the routines of daily life, WHIEL armed, is not only doing his duty as a citizen of the U.S.A. he is likely also not a threat to you, you are a hoplophobe and a paranoid delusionalist.

It is true that not everyone should carry any form of a weapon. Bit I do feel safer knowing that there is people out there that is willing to help and protect his or her fellow man or woman. If that means using a gun, knife or any other form of weapons, so be it.

I think you make pretty good point, the only places that i have heard where everyone carries a gun are called war zones. If you look at the number of gun related killings and injuries in countries with strict gun regulation such a Japan or the UK, killings like the one at the theater are non existent. Anyways, THANKS OBAMA!

there is also things called CONFLICT zones, like the border with Palestine and Israel.

where these exist primarily here in the US is Chicago and Detroit. they are in a constant conflict state between gang members and thugs, and LAC’s and LEO’s

also the UK has more violent crime then places that don’t. and japan is well.. japan.. they are purists and don’t like outsiders, this has helped them maintain their culture and philosophies of morality and reduce violence due to it.

America is a different beast in this respect all together, we have multiple cultures multiple ethnicities and multiple religions. we are, by divided interests nature, going to tend to be more internally violent and standoffish.

Has it ever occurred to any of you that at least some of these mass public shootings have been staged in order to terrorize the public into giving up their second amendment rights. I sympathize with any actual victims of violence of any kind, but I still wonder if the public isn’t being duped into voluntarily giving in to authoritarians who will make us into helpless slaves. I too fear the maniac. But I fear the organized uniformed maniacs even more. I grew up watching countless movies depicting innocent unarmed citizens in Germany being murdered or dragged off to a place of horrors. I’ll opt for an occasional single lunatic with a gun and murder on his mind. How many times does it have to happen before the “authorities” strip away our rights? I’d say look at it this way. The criteria for owning a gun and the promotion and popularization of going to a shrink are not accidental. Many people have already had that right torn away, people who are not dangerous, just naive trusting souls who made the monumental mistake of talking over their problems with a psycho logist. I think the conspiracy to turn Americans into drug addicts in the 60’s has been followed by an attempt (successful attempt) to get as many people as possible on some kind of antidepressant, and to label children with all kinds of nonexistent conditions in an attempt to nullify them and strip them of rights including but not limited to second amendment rights. Wake up America. Take responsibility for your own mental health and that of your children. Educate yourself. America can become a safer place for all of us if we take the time to think, evaluate, and make wise decisions. Here’s to freedom, prosperity, and a better life for all.
