Less than 24 hours after President Obama’s reelection, it looks like he may be making good on his promise to curb gun rights. According to Reuters, President Obama has backed the U.N.’s attempts to reopen the UN arms treaty talks which would control and regulate the sale of firearms at an international level.
The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off last July after the Obama administration, in what now looks like was only done for political reelection purposes, decided to pull out of the draft treaty. But only hours after his reelection, the Obama administration signaled that they would be rejoining talks and threw their support behind the gun control measure.
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty would effectively place a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. This ban could affect all private gun owners and as we pointed out earlier in the years, right before talks were suspended, the proposed bill had language that would implement an international gun registry of all guns and ammo.
The new United Nations Arms Trade Treaty will be considered for finalization in March 2013, and just like we pointed out yesterday, more gun control measures are likely right around the corner. The timing of this announcement, a mere 12 hours after the results, should raise red flags for anyone who is concerned about gun rights over the next four years. In my opinion, this decision to re-engage with the United Nation leaves little doubt that gun rights will come under attack over the next four years.
Luckily the republicans still have a majority in the house and any (UN)treaty signed by Obama or Hillary that restricts our gun rights will have to be ratified and approved by congress for it to have any effect on US Citizens especially in the US. But the fact that they have come back to the table does not surprise me at all.
Waiting on anyone to fix it later is abad plan.
2 spend cuts for every 1 tax increase didn’t work got (got the increase not the cuts) – Regan
Welfare Reform we will work the bugs later (Didn’t happen) – Clinton
Campain finance reform wil never get signed (it did) Thats okay it won’t get by the courts Oh crap didn’t expect that (it did) – Bush
heathcare Reform don’t worry it will be struck down by the supreme court (guess not) – Obama
So may we should learn from history (for a change) and not give at all.
You eat an elephant one bite at a time. And this is not their first bite at gun control. They’ve had brunch and re eyeing whats for dinner
Dont count on the Republican majority to save anything. This president, so to speak, has a way of pushing things through. The general public doesnt care if he threatens, lies, or buys bills through. This guy seems to think that he’s above the law, reproach, and morality. He seems to do what he wants , how he wants, when he wants.
He’s got someone reading this post, because he granted himself that ability via an executive order. He writes those more than he tends to the nation’s business the way the LEGAL citizens want him to.
this mere mortal man is NOT above God’s law and He shall stand before the judgement seat of Christ Jesus and he shall answer for everything he has done like all of us will someday. I ain’t fretin about this joker at all because God is in control and no man can stop God almighty.
The treaty will only require 2/3’s of the SENATE to be passed. This is outrageous and must be stopped!
2/3’s that is much better than a sim0ple majority.
I would have to agree with you on the 2/3, but we can not let our guard down for a minute. I am concerned with where this nation is headed. Most of America is not engaged in the serious issues of the day.
Obama and Clinton are on the verge of signing many other treaties with the UN that will surrender our Constitutional rights to the UN. Ratified or not we will be subject to upholding those treaties in accordance to the Vienna Convention and the Supremacy Clause within our Constitution. The Black Helicoptors are here.
No law or treaty can usurp the constitution. The constitution is the supreme law of the land. Even if the treaty were constitutional it would have to be ratified for the US to be subject to it.
I am sorry Rob, but you are mistaken. The people in Washington, think they know best. Have you not seen what they are doing, what ever they want. They are selling us out all over the place, What my Family and many other fought for since the Revolutionary war. Only God himself, can help us now.
Well said Sam, Washington is out of control and for some reason they think they know what’s best for us. This is the same group that has put in in the mess that we are currently in today.
With all due respect, Rob, you couldn’t be more wrong. A treaty trumps the U.S. Constitution that’s why “they” are using it.
Absolutely and our constitution is based upon Christine values
Who’s Christine?
I wish that people would get their heads out of their butt’s, and start thinking.
Hillary is running for President in 2016. She will be elected because she is a woman, and it will be by the people that least need to have more taken away from them.
Hillary is as bad or worse than Obama. They both want to take our constitutional rights away from us.
Wake up America before America as we knew it is gone.
It’s too late, my friend. That America was buried back in the 50s. McCarthy was correct, just 2 decades late.
your right…they made fun of him and ridiculed him BUT McCarthy was right
The first word says it all. They not be so lucky
next time.
I must repsectfully disagree Will. Only the Senate is required to ratify treaties.
What the fuck does Hillary got to do w/ this?
Hillary was big player in this as SOS . She fought for this and made speeches at the UN praising this UN gun control grab. She also planned this UN take over with Obama.
This is a treeayt with the U.N. The Senate passes treaties. The House has little to say about it. You can’t wait for someone else to act. Make your wishes known.
This treaty would still have to be ratified by 2/3rds of the senate… Not going to happen unless a bunch of republicans flips suit… Still something to watch. Thanks.
Do what I am doing….. E-mail all of our Senators and telling them that we don’t want the UN in our lives at all. If they vote against the American people’s rights, we will have to vote them out of their cushy, money making, self serving Political positions that we voted them into.
Like Harry Reid, they get into politics to make themselves rich! They sure as hell don’t do what we voted them into office to do! Vote for what American’s want! Not what they want!
Wake up America before it is like it was with Adolph Hitler…..Obama has the same agenda that Hitler had!
Hitler took all the guns first then made the
people do what he said
Good Lord, man !! What do you think this vote was about? This was to ratify the treaty. It was close enough that it will come back like a bad penny.
The senate could be bought and regardless… Obama pushes things through regardless of the rules or procedures…
If the Senate does not ratify by a 2/3 vote, than the President CAN ratify the treaty by executive order. That order cannot be undone by either house of the Congress. It can only be undone by the next President.
Sorry…the president cannot override a failed senate 2/3 vote on a ratification. That has never been in the balance of power, and is only available for Congress. Even this fool can’t breach that bridge.
The law doing away with the balance of power has already been passed..a few months ago. sorry, don’t remember the bill#
Phil is correct. As to the law doing away with the balance of power, horse hockey.
Never say never. Obama has been doing what he planned no matter what the majority of the people want. 5eems like the way we are supposed to do things (legally) has changed to the way he wants. May God have mercy on those that voted this devil in!
AMEN S Rodriguez!!!
Yeah, no surprise here. Well, we can only hope it doesn’t make it past the Senate.
Constitutional requirements for treaty approval won’t necessarily stop this from happening. Look at the events around property zoning – armed zoning inspectors and property confiscations for things like planting a garden in your front yard. THAT is done under ‘planning guides’ from ICLEI, which is a support organization for the UN’s Agenda 21 – also not a ratified treaty.
Be scared. Be very scared. Be scared enough to buy guns and lots of ammo for each, pronto. Don’t forget parts kits for the ones you have too. Making parts hard to get would age most guns out of existence eventually.
Remember Fast and Furious
Oh thats right the media didn’t cover that, so probably not
So Law abiding folks should not have “dangerous weapons”
But the Obama Administration can let drug dealers buy and ship Assault weapons.
Seems a little backwards to me. I’m not in government though so maybe i just don’tgasp the concept
“grasp” sorry typing in the dark
Don’t just sit around hoping the the GOP will block this. Believe that they will let this pass if the people remain silent. Join a Pro-Gun organization if you don’t belong to one. Let your government elected representatives of all levels know how you feel. Send them emails and keep sending emails. The administration won’t stop and by the time the people realize the full implications of this (do you really think they are going to stop at gun control?) this is just the tip of the iceberg to get rid of the constitution and all of your rights. Just try protesting in sight of where ever the Pres. is. He made that illegal.
Did I misread the article?
“U.S. officials have acknowledged privately that the treaty under discussion would have no effect on domestic gun sales and ownership because it would apply only to exports.”
Again there is no treaty yet as the final draft is not due until march. So for any lawmaker to say what’s in it is a little premature and likely only bring said to sway public opinion. If the last attempt at the treaty is any indication of what they’ll do this time then we need to consider that the last attempt applied to imports and exports.
It is time for the Tree of Liberty to be watered with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants. REVOLUTION is in the air. Don’t you feel it in the wind, in the trees as they sway back and forth? Do you feel it in peoples voices when they speak? Don’t you see the anger and fear of our government in the peoples eyes? It it time for an ARMED RESISTANCE!
Most of what I hear is fear and ignorance. People believe too much of what they read on the internet. Just remember that the action mentioned above is simply treason by another name and is action that should not be taken lightly. This whole idea is anti democratic and has been highly romanticized. Even in this posting, “Don’t you feel it in the wind, in the trees as they sway back and forth?”, it is highly romanticized. There is nothing romantic in war, revolution or treason. A revolution born of fear and ignorance would be catastrophic to the very ideals which it would seek to uphold.
Don’t forget, now that this loser was re-elected he’ll have a chance at overturning the second amendment by taking it back to the Supreme Court. How? All he needs is for one of the supreme’s to pass away. With Obama’s appointment of a successor, the amendment will be easily aolished.

Don’t forget, now that Obama was re-elected he just may have a fresh chance at overturning the second amendment by taking it back to the Supreme Court. How will he accomplish it? All he needs to have happen, is for one of the justices to pass away. With his appointment of the “right” successor, the amendment would be declared “unconstitutional” and thrown out.

lemme see, they steal the elections then PRETEND to represent us then destroy the US Constitution. They are correct, the tERRORists hate our freedoms!
Here’s my two cents – The UN is a toothless lion that roars and roars but in reality doesn’t really do much of anything. UN peace keepers watch and are powerless to do anything as warlords butcher women and children in Africa. My point is that the UN can draft all the treaties they want to give the appearance of gun control but the fact is that Russia and China probably won’t sign up for it as they are big exporters of small arms. So the treaty will die once again on the floor of the UN security council.
In the end the President can sign whatever treaty he wants but it will be effectively meaningless for our gun rights here in the United States. So don’t believe the hype. The real problem is the fiscal cliff and until that is resolved (one way or the other) both Congress and the White House should by in OCD mode to get it fixed or folks I promise the past 4 years will look like a walk in the park. If there was ever a time to prep its now!
Cant believe that it has gotten this far with the USA. I always thought Canada was a country that was going down hill, seems like our neighbor is surpassing us. what a shame
There are a lot of pro gun rights organizations that have a great deal of pull with elected officials. The NRA, for example, has an impact on elections. Perhaps not the presidential elections as much as state senators and representatives. Hopefully the pressure from these influential lobbyists will sway Republicans to block this. The
Republicans are already thinking about what they need to change to win the White House back in 4 years. I’m going out on a limb here and saying the majority of Americans are more concerned with the overall idea of the government infringing on their constitutional rights in general and will speak out against gun control merely for the fact that if it starts with gun control it will likely lead to infringment on other rights in the future. Hopefully I’m right here because I think it goes against everything the founding fathers fought for. I hope the Senate and House come to the table for the budget but that they hold their ground on gun control. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
seams like a fair amount of our representitives in D.C. conducting the nations business do not understand the constitution
