Things just got a whole lot worse for law-abiding gun owners as Walmart, the world’s largest firearm and ammo seller, just announced they are enacting a number of anti-gun policies in their stores including a ban on popular ammunition and a ban on open carrying in their stores.
Early Tuesday morning, Walmart announced it would reduce its gun and ammunition sales, ban the sale of .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber ammo, stop selling all handguns, and ban customers from open carrying a firearm in all of its 4,700 US stores.
“It’s clear to us that the status quo is unacceptable,” Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo to employees on Tuesday.
Walmart to add no guns allowed signage to stores in the coming weeks:
“We believe the opportunity for someone to misinterpret a situation, even in open carry states, could lead to tragic results,” CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo distributed to employees on Tuesday. “We hope that everyone will understand the circumstances that led to this new policy and will respect the concerns of their fellow shoppers and our associates.”
McMillon said Walmart’s new policies were implemented because of by the El Paso, Texas, shooting, as well as recent mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and Midland and Odessa, Texas.
“We’ve also been listening to a lot of people inside and outside our company as we think about the role we can play in helping to make the country safer,” he added.
Walmart to call police on anyone open carrying in stores
A Walmart spokesman said employees would be taking a “nonconfrontational” approach in carrying out the new anti-gun new policy, but that the stores will contact law enforcement if a customer became disruptive.
“We feel like we are striking a responsible balance between the interests of law-abiding citizens who are exercising their legal rights and the safety concerns of our associates and customers,” Dan Bartlett, Walmart executive vice president of corporate affairs, said on a call with reporters.
“We will treat law-abiding customers with respect, and we will have a very non-confrontational approach,” he said. “Our remaining assortment will be even more focused on the needs of hunting and sport shooting enthusiasts.”
In addition, McMillon said that Walmart will take an active role in anti-gun legislation saying they will be sending letters to the White House and congressional leaders that “call for action” on “common sense” gun safety measures.
“We encourage our nation’s leaders to move forward and strengthen background checks and to remove weapons from those who have been determined to pose an imminent danger,” he said. “Congress and the administration should act. Given our decades of experience selling firearms, we are also offering to serve as a resource in the national debate on responsible gun sales.”
Democrats use Walmart to promote their anti-American policies to disarm law-abiding Americans
The foul-mouthed democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke praised Walmart’s decision but said the move is not enough. “We can’t rely on corporations to stop gun violence,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
The fake Indian, Sen. Elizabeth Pocahontas Warren, D-Mass., wrote on her Twitter account that it was a “good start — but it’s not nearly enough. Walmart can and should do much more. And we need real gun reform, now.”
Millionaire, socialist Bernie Sanders wrote, “I applaud the brave Walmart workers who called on the company to stop selling guns. This is a good step, but we still have a gun violence crisis.”
Walmart to push other retailers to join the anti-gun bandwagon
McMillon said he would also be encouraging other retailers to act “to make the overall industry safer.”
“We are exploring ways to share the technical specifications and compliance controls for our proprietary firearms sales technology platform,” he said. “This system navigates the tens of millions of possible combinations of federal, state and local laws, regulations and licensing requirements that come into effect based on where the firearm is being sold and who is purchasing it. We hope that providing this information, free of charge, will help more retailers sell firearms in a responsible, compliant manner.”
Side note and update: If you tried sharing this article when we first posted it, I appoligize that you were not able to share it. Our post was reported by a so-called conservative who didn’t like that I shared my opinion that Walmart was Anti-gun in the article and reported it as fake news.

So I had to change the URL to be able to reshare it, and state that it is my opinion that Walmart is a bunch od ANTI-GUN ASSHOLES. And to the person who reported the page, it is also my opinion that you too are an ASSHOLE!
Wellll now. I guess Amazon gets all my business. I certainly can wait to get whatever I need through the Amazon delivery schedule. Their prices on Amazon are better than Walmart for the thingsI purchase. And for grocery’s I can shop local stores and markets. Walmart can KISS my A$$.
This has to be satire. You are joking right?
Do to this “New policy” my family and I no longer be giving my business to Walmart for any reason. If Walmart really wanted to make this country safer it would stop making gun free zones, and start farming all of their clerks. Walmart much like many other large corporations is ran by liberals who do not understand that more guns equals less crime, people only shoot up places where they know people are in unarmed, that’s why you never see a mass shooting at a gun range!! #ArmTheNation
Pardon the typos, talk to text clearly was no friend of mine.
Here we go again. Let’s punish the law abiding and also make all Wal-Marts “gun-free” zones. Hell, lets make all stores “gun-free” zones. The bad guys will love that.
Wal-Mart can do what ever they want. So can I. I will be shopping other stores from now on…I’d rather shop small business and online anyway. Mr. McMillon and his ilk are mentally disturbed and have no idea what they are doing.
The new Civil War is now escalating and believe that the Second Amendment will be the deciding issue. I’m sure there will be more billionaires jumping on the band wagon. May God bless our nation.
Meanwhile their biggest vendor China continues human atrocities and flood the US with billions of Fetynal pills to kill our people…..screw Small-Mart….
Krogers just jumped on the band wagon this morning. They banned open carry in their stores…and they are unionized. What does that say about Krogers? Civil War II continues.
Here is my take on it. Good, I know I know but listen to my reasoning.
1. I don’t open carry anywhere, I conceal carry because I don’t want the idiot bad guys to know I have a gun until it is too late for them, it makes you a target.
2. I am glad that they aren’t carrying ammo anymore for pistols and the most popular rifle round on the market. Go buy them from a local gun shop, support your local mom and pop places. The only time I have bought ammo from Walmart in the past 20 years is getting .22 when no one else has it. I would rather pay a few bucks more per box to help send someones kid to college than to give some fat cat corporate dickhead more money on his yearly bonus.
3. Screw Walmart, I hate going in that place, it is full of retarded idiots anyway. They don’t need the extra money.
Just my opinion.
Unfortunately i shop sams club a sibsidiary. But i avoid going into a walmart as much as possible.. Out of curiousity.. My state has constitutional carry and there issue is with open, so that means i just conceal it and all good right?
Yes, you would be good to conceal carry; although there is talk between Walmart and other retailers to try to get rid of that as well. My problem with the conceal carry argument is it’s a slippery slope. A lot of people are saying, well they didn’t ban conceal carry, but in my opinion being okay with any infringement on our rights just allows them to move even quicker against all of them.
