The head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been sent to Nebraska after Missouri River floodwaters penetrated the turbine building at a nuclear power plant near Omaha.
An 8-foot-tall temporary water berm collapsed causing flood waters to rush into the building. The plants power had to be shut down after water surrounded the main electrical transformers, and officials say that they are now on emergency backup power.
In other scary nuclear news, the Nuclear testing facility in Los Alamos was evacuated after wildfires came within 1 mile of the research lab. Natural gas lines leading into the area were shut down to prevent possible problems.
