Roswell Chicken ManThis is one of those stories that often never makes it to the Front Page of any newspaper or website. It’s a story about Property Rights and Eminent domain. It’s the story of one man who tried to fight back; and sadly it’s the story of a man who lost it all in the process. It’s also a story that can happen to anyone who is reading this article.

The story begins back in 2009 when Andrew Wordes, otherwise known as the Roswell Chicken Man, began his fight to raise chickens on his property. In February 2009, the city of Roswell, GA started to cite Andrew Wordes for raising livestock in his backyard. Wordes, who had started raising chickens on his .97-acre homestead in 2005, decided to fight back. And guess what he Won.

But sadly, that’s when the real trouble started:

You see, the story actually has very little to do with chickens. While the city of Roswell, and cities just like it across America ,would like people to believe it’s as simple as chickens -  the real story is about the rights of property owners.

In a map that was published back in 2003, as part of Roswell’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan for city improvements, one thing becomes painfully obvious. The city had already planned to take Wordes property.

The Map showed that the city had major plans for his property. In fact, Wordes property sat right in the middle of a planned city park. His property was being targeted for “city improvements”, and this fight had nothing to do with chickens. The chickens were really just the catalyst for the city to unlawfully seize his land.

After initially winning his fight in municipal court, the City of Roswell made Wordes life a living hell.

The Harassment Begins…

On Dec. 14, 2009, the city council approved a new ordinance banning roosters and using lot size to limit how many chickens a resident could keep. Wordes claimed that the harassment started immediately after the meeting, when Roswell police ticketed him for no insurance and a number of other moving violations.

  • In September of 2010,  Roswell prosecuted Wordes under the new ordinance claiming he had too many birds for his lot size. The judge found him not guilty since he had the chickens before the ordinance became law.
  • In September of 2010,  he was convicted of grading sediment on his land without a permit and having inoperable vehicles in his yard.  He was sentenced to community service.
  • In November of 2010, code enforcement served Wordes with a  nuisance citation.
  • After winning twice in court against the city, the county then got involved and actually cited him for “not properly stacking his firewood.”
  • In 2011, the 84 year-old women who held Mr. Wordes mortgage was harassed by the city into selling Wordes mortgage for forty cents on the dollar. The city then began the foreclosure process.
  • While in the process of trying to save his home, Andrew Wordes was arrested by Roswell Police on the day that he was to bring paperwork that would’ve delayed his bankruptcy and the foreclosure on his home.
  • Wordes was jailed for violating his probation after the city claimed he only served 122 of the 150 hours of community service that he had been ordered to serve.  He then served 99 days in jail.

After his release, he placed a sign on his property that read “Trespassers will be construed as a bodily threat” and then waited for authorities to arrive and remove him.

explosion at Wordes home

On Monday at 10:45 a.m. Marshalls arrived at the home. After a two-hour standoff,  Wordes advised the Marshalls that they needed to immediately leave the property.  That’s when the explosion happened. After years of battling for his right to keep his land, Wordes finally had enough.

On a website dedicated to Andrew Wordes, one of his friends wrote:

We all lost a little something today. Andrew was a man of faith, with a strong love for God. He was a staunch Constitutionalist with a passion for our freedoms and liberties.

You pushed Mr. Wordes to this point. You marched around Roswell bashing Andrew, annihilating his character, marking him as crazy and filing lawsuits whenever you could, bankrupting him and denying him rights given to property owners in the United States.

Andrew fought the good fight, not just for himself but for others because he knew it could happen to anyone. And it is. Eminent domain is being abused all over our country, just look it up. Communities are plagued with repeated abuses of the use of eminent domain. It’s tragic and your neighborhood could be next. Andrew fought to his last breath, for himself, for me, for you. In his mind, he went on his terms. Right out of Atlas Shrugged. Andrew is at peace now but it’s not over.

The sad truth about this story is it’s 100% true.
It’s also not an isolated incident.

From the Federal Government seizing property because of “environmental regulations”, to local municipalities who use code enforcement agents codes to intimidate people into giving up their land, we have a huge problem in this country. Our property rights are being shredded before our eyes and it’s only a matter of time before this story becomes an everyday occurrence.

The Chicken Man, Andrew Wordes, in his own words from an interview he gave last month on the Rusty Humphries show.

I’d have done the same in his shoes. I’d sooner take my own life than give it up to these sick, sadistic, inhumane pricks.
They want to make examples of us, they want us to think that they would be able to clear the rest of us out with the same tactics if we were to stand up.
Well they didn’t in my opinion, this time he made an example of them. How many of us are going to have to go off before they leave us alone? I don’t know, but what I do know is that it’s a lot fewer than the number of people they’re going to terrorize before they leave us alone.

Honestly, its this kind of crap, along with the shooting of Marine veteran Jose Guerre that has got your average joe on the street talking about revolution and civil war. More people deem the courts highly political and corrupt, and see an armed revolt as LESS of a bad thing than they use to.

      • 2bfree says:

Although the govt of Roswell is to blame for not protecting this man’s 4th Amendment rights, I couldn’t find one comment (unless I missed it) that this man killed himself because the United Nation’s Local Agenda 21. Unless and until people wake up to the fact that the UN’s commmunist plan to take over through ‘sustainable development’, which is what Agenda 21 is all about, and that city after city is implementing Local Agenda 21, Agenda 21′s baby for local governments, this will be happening again and again.
In the USSR they used to gave 5 year plans. The commie UN realized 5 years was too short so now they have 20, 30 and 40 year plans.
Wake up people. The UN is has its tentaclea everywhere.

        • Robert Roseland says:

Absolutely right. Some how, some way these evils within cities that no not how they exist by only because the law is written. Not for them to abuse, but only to protect them from being removed from the gene pool. That is why most of all laws are becoming disrespected.
22,000 regulations need to be removed by 22,000,000,000 people. I know about agenda 21, I know about the New World Order. I know better that we the people will unite and over come.

          • jeremy says:

who the hell are the UN? and what right do they have over anyone? They were not elected, they were only put into a position and arbitrarily decided they rule the world? the UN needs to be disbanded

          • I'm with stupid says:

Okay so tired of hearing this constant BS about the UN trying to take over the US.Stop watching FOX it makes you STUPID.

          • trebor says:

            Hey……”I’m with stupid”
Fox news is the only news agency that you can get the truth from so….you are really the stupid one if you listen to CNN or MSNBC etc!

          • Souris says:

So why did the “only news news agency that you can get the truth from” go to court to defend it’s right to lie on the news?

          • Jimbo says:

Hey I’m with stupid-trying reading a book. You might actually learn something. Start with “Behind the Green Mask”, a meticulously researched, and incredibly well documented treatise on the UN’s Agenda 21. Now. Neither you or I know whether or not the City of Roswell’s attacks on this citizen were in part influenced by this treaty, that was signed by George Bush and IS being implemented in our country, in spite of your ignorance to the fact, but their MO and techniques used are precisely the type of tactics outlined in this excellent book by Rosa Koire.

        • George says:

Thanks to Chaos Theory the USSR’s 5 year plans were noted for falling apart. Plans for 20 years and beyond are purest fantasy…

        • ScottS says:

Cut the crap and get real this has NOTHING to do with the UN and is all about small town bullies who think they are gods, and the people who let them get away with it because “it ain’t happening to me man”. The bottom line is the whole community was to blame for not stepping up and telling the common council to resign.

          • Peter Gustafson says:

Scott, you got it right, as in
The Bottom Line of this story.

          • Sherry says:

            Amen

          • MonicaC says:

On the surface it would seem that it is small town politics doing this. The small town politicians are actually dupes getting the chance to feel powerful. They don’t have any idea that they are being used. The state makes suggestions to these little towns to get their little towns noticed and “on the map” with state and federal funds. To get the funds, they need “x” amount of parks, etc….so through their “city planning” and township meetings these locals play “bigshot”, get to feel important and throw their weight around. They have no idea that they are implementing Agenda 21 planning. If you have not read the list of Agenda 21 objectives, it is readily available at the back of Glenn Becks Agenda 21 book. Once you read that, the hair on your head will stand on end….absolutely chilling when you put 2 and 2 together and see what is going on. You can then verify online through other multiple outlets that the list in Becks book is, in fact, an actual UN/Agenda 21 list agreed upon by democrats and republicans. George HW Bush even participated in the Agenda 21 summit. Wake up people.

          • Michael says:

Yes Scott, I agree with you! The people of Roswell Georgia should be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen to this man! I guess it will take 3 or 4 more of these cases in Roswell for the people to wake up and do something about it… Sad!

          • Msdahmenor says:

Many of us who knew Andrew and were there for him was still not enough to stop the crooked City of Roswell. The PD use to harass the crap out of him. It was so sad…Andrew was a kind, kind man.

          • Victor Thane says:

UN is a conspiracy thing. Your right the people of Roswell should be ashamed of themselves for not stepping in, and stopping these bullies from their dirty deeds.

          • Sher says:

Absolutely agree about small towns. I used to ‘run’ our small town but was not liked because I did everything legally and honestly. Small towns are usually run by a bunch of “elected” big heads who think they are God! Our Mayor actually told me “This is like a Monarchy and I am King and you are all peons (sp?). Another time he told me I would be paid more if I were a man. I ended up with a nervous breakdown and the town is now managed by a man like ‘them’.

      • redplanetlover says:

If you think the US gov’t will allow the UN or any UN agency to have even the slightest influence on internal American affairs you are crazy. I am a Canadian and even I know that much. The ‘eminent domain’ rights in the the US is similar to rights that cities have in Canada but we call it ‘expropriation’. If the city needs land for a roadway or something vital (not a park)it can force you to sell it but it goes through a public process and the landowners usually get about a 25% premium over the properties actual value.

    • Anita says:

that gov’t is guilty of murder and the president is just as much to blame as anyone else.he’s doing the same to small farmers and amish dairies. commies.

      • jcalton says:

Yes, it’s just this president. All the republican ones really cared about you.

        • jasoncookies says:

The republicans are just as bad! Compare Bush’s Patriot act to Nazi Germany’s Enabling act after the Reichstag fire. Both parties are guilty and need to be gotten rid of. We need a constitutionalist president.

          • Terri says:

Write in Ron Paul this election. That’s what we’re going to do.

          • Joanna says:

A write in vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama. Remember what happened with Ross Perot? We got Clinton,. Don’t be foolish.

          • richard says:

            Ron Paul or bust 2012!!!!

          • Dale says:

People we need a voter revolution. If you want freedom and want to take your government out of the hands of the banks, large corporations, and unions you must stop voting for the two parties that are owned by those same people. If you vote for a democrat or republican you are voting for the same people that control both parties. You are being given a false choice. If you want your vote to count you must vote for a third party candidate not controlled by those people.

          • Steve says:

Unless you live in one of a few states (3 at last count) YOUR vote for president means absolutely nothing.

The Electoral College elects the president, period. In a majority of states, the EC representatives are not required to vote one way or another. Some states have in place a way to address faithless votes, but it deals with the EC representative, NOT with the popular vote.

You’d think the 2000 circus would have taught people…

          • Gezzy says:

OBAMA would like to THANK ALL RON PAUL voters.

          • Carol Burns says:

Teri, I did that last election, however; with all the voter fraud going on it will never do any good because the big wigs in Washington are afraid for him to get into office. However, I will definitely do it again!! Go Ron Paul…..

          • Pat says:

“Obama would like to thank Ron Paul supporters”. What a load of crock. Two elections, 300 million people+, and the absolute best the republican party could field is John “I love a terrorist” McCain, and Mr. 47%. If people were capable of conscious thought rather than controlled by propaganda TV, then Ron Paul would probably be president. Obama became president and still is president because they were able to effectively use the race card. But beyond that…no matter if you wrote in Captain Kangaroo, no vote is “wasted” if you stand up and make your choice, because that is your right. What corrupts the system is when the media tells us that you are wasting a vote by voting with our hearts rather than for who we are told.

        • Kazerus says:

Jcalton, nice little “one-liner” jab you put in there!

However, it is interesting how you manage to leave the entire article and current thread untouched and un-remarked in order to move yourself safely into the past for your retort. The original comment was that Obama is “Just as guilty as anyone” That statement doesn”t lay blame on him alone, now does it?

Yes, Obama is to blame for what is happening Right Now. Because the Past can not step forward and change what is happening, only Obama can do that.

Yes, I agree, the electoral college has forced a long string of corrupt presidents who have all done atrocious things. But none of them have committed atrocities in the shear numbers, magnitude and in outright animosity to the USA, that this present Potus has foisted on this country.

Only one politician currently serving has managed to avoid this stench of political perversion. But you may not be aware of Him.

But back to the point: This article is just another example of how our country has been turned inside-out. After reading that established laws will no longer be enforced because they are “unfair” to illegal aliens (WTH?), and then reading this article exemplifying how legal citizens and land owners will no longer be allowed to have the rights to their land; I am convinced that we are past the “slippery slope” stage of bad laws and unfair enforcement, and actively falling into a legal/ethical hell.

But you can keep focusing on the Past, if it helps you to cope.

This is in response to anton. At what point is this any different than our racist, hate mongering president making a statement about Trayvon, or about the Georgetown professor that was “harassed” because of color? It it that it was in Georgia that makes you classify it as redneck? You need to hit your knees and thank whomever you worship for rednecks, they are the first ones to volunteer to protect your sorry opinionated rump! “Only one politician currently serving has managed to avoid this stench of political perversion. But you may not be aware of Him.”

I certainly hope you aren’t talking about Ron Paul, the man who tried to pass a law that might have prevented the Supreme Court from striking down the clearly unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act? The man who believes that states have the right to throw Americans in prison simply for being gay?

          • Victor Thane says:

You all just took a story about a man that just lost his life and property. You turned it into a Republican and Democrat voting issue. Really?? This is why we will never have the revolution needed to kick these People with the money running the country. Because no one can keep their eye on the ball. What should happen here is we the people should call Roswell local government and stop them in their tracks. Wake the people up in Roswell, to the tragedy that could befall them. Organize, Stop local and federal government from anymore harm to the American people.

      • Al Marks says:

I am replying to this post because it the newest I saw about this issue. I believe that a massive private property grab is underway by our government with what else but the mortgage and forclosures. I was lied to, stolen from, and very nearly killed by a government proxy disguised as private company. The scary part is that I worked for the company that committed this multiple felony forclosure for over 17 years! I can assure you all that having to make the decision to kill police or yourself or just walk away, will ruin your life regardless of which path you take. We MUST find ways to organize and be preparded to force a return to a Constitutionally limited Republic or die trying, just as our founding fathers. I havent a clue how to survive the DHS,ATF,FBI,National, State, County, and City PIGS, using illegal drones, wire, cloud, cell, and Onstar style eaves dropping on us! I keep hearing about shortwave but I don’t see how that either can be secure. So I guess I am asking for suggestions how we like-minded patriots(not “citizens”!) can work the system to achieve peaceful transition to the nation we once were, or is it too late? And Mr. Greywolf, sueing in any court will no longer work to do anything but line the pockets of the scum lawyers who have put us in this trickbag, and I speak from experience. Lawyers need to be the first to hang, hell, I can’t even find one who will talk to me when they learn whom I need to fight. Regards ALM

        • sherman says:

There is no “peaceful transition” so get ready for a real battle or bend over and take it.

        • John says:

          Al,
I agree with you about the lawsuits not doing any good except to line the pockets of the greedy money grubbing lawyers. I also know from experience. Unfortunately I also agree with Sherman in that there is not going to be any “peaceful transition” to the nation we once were because first off it is to late for that and secondly the only way we are going to get to a better workable system is to demolish the existing system in its entirety.
Unfortunately that will never happen and we will keep trying to patch together the constitution, which was written for a different time and was not meant to last this long, keeping the laws and twisting them further and further until they are completely unrecognizable. Then we won’t need to have any kind of revolution because what we had before and what we have now will seem like a dream to what we will have then.

Substantial emotional and financial losses and health problems resulted as I am told that the healthy animals were taken to and given to the Budapest Zoo. They can receive and keep stolen property? If there are any decent people in Roswell they will take the city government to task for what they have done. Mr. Wordes was a hero. Like so many of us today, we are under constant bombardment by our government. It’s time for all of us to stand up and tell them we are done and we won’t take it any more.

    • lolwut says:

And what would you have them do to “take the city government to task”? Send emails that aren’t read? Call to yell at an unpaid intern who has been told to answer the phone and insist that the official you’re trying to reach is “in a meeting at the moment”? Plan a potentially illegal protest? Because there’s currently a state bill in the works that would make public protests illegal in Georgia. We have a lot of issues that need addressing, and they can’t all be addressed at once. The ordinary citizens don’t have any sort of authority to “take the city government to task,” but even if we did, right now we’d be using it to take the whole state to task for trying to take away our right to protest at all.

constant harassment, secretive meetings, gestapo used to push the gov’t agenda forward…Nazism is alive and well in GA.

    • lolwut says:

Wait, what? No. You’re comparing apples to oranges in a very offensive way. Kindly reconsider your comparison of eminent domain with international genocide and human experimentation. It would also be a good idea to look up the word “gestapo,” because it refers to a specific type of cop that isn’t present in this particular sequence of events.

      • Larry Gowers says:

Well, from Merriam-Webster dictionary Gestapo means a police organization “employing underhanded and terrorist methods against persons suspected of disloyalty”. So, lolwut you are blinded as to what is at issue here. If Roswell authorities weren’t employing underhanded and terrorist methods, them I’m Bill Gates and have the bank balance to prove it. I believe the point emlee was trying to make is that our gov’t is using those same tactics today that those monster Nazi’s used back in 1920′s and 1930′s Germany to force their “will” to be done.

        • Bill says:

“GESTAPO” is the acronym in german for Geheim Stats Polizei…in english State Secret Police.
Any “secret police” formation will by it’s nature be above the law as such a name implies.
Anyhow it’s a sad fact that the politicians in GA abused the law criminally by any reasonable assessment to persecute Worde like a dog. I do not have any faith in state or federal agencies ever pursuing justice on their own kind , and Wordes illegal treatment by local gov’t thugs will go unpunished.

  7. oKeef says:

I lived In Roswell for a while and that place has some major power issues. The cities zone enforcement officer was a real GEM .He rode around threatening to take people to jail for minor zoning violations and wore a Tactical SWAT outfit with a handgun.

It’s everywhere. I am surprised this gentleman could not sue them for malicious prosecution. If this does not scream that I do not know what does. I sure hope his family is going to bring forth a wrongful death suit, a preponderance of evidence in a civil suit is only a majority and would be pretty easy to prove so I am retty sure Roswell and the county would lose that one. Hurt them the only way that you can, in their wallets since they care about little else. In fact his family should sue them for so much that they can’t afford that stupid park for 40 years.

    • Government bureaucrats think that they are untouchables!

Do you mean the citizens money? If the city government is sued, they know where to get the money to pay. From us.

    • farmboy says:

Better rethink sueing the state or city who do you think will really pay, the city /state can only pay if they take it from the people in one way or another! I believe they should pay but how can that be justice when the burden is on the tax payer! nough said

      • margie r. says:

Yes tax payers pay but how the money has been spent is public record and suits paid for the transgressions of public servants I would think a political issue big enough to cause the needed stink that changes the manner in which city or any public office’s business is conducted.

  9. Stephen Aracic says:

The government bureaucrats think that they are untouchables!

  10. lolwut says:

As someone living in the area, I would like to suggest that ONLY the PEOPLE directly involved in this man’s land seizure be punished. Don’t make the city’s occupants pay for the crimes of corrupt governments and officials by insisting that their city bankrupt itself. Sue the individual city officials, NOT the city. That might even send a stronger message of accountability to the people in the city government, anyway.

    • Ms says:

I think you are incorrect. His family SHOULD sue the city. It would then be the citizen that would then vote these ruthless people out of office. The citizens of Roswell are responsible for what their leaders do and as such need to take action to made sure this never happens again. If that means bankrupting to city so be it.

    • Michael Bashore says:

    • LonestarPatriot says:

Roll over? They’re spinning in their graves fast enough to start fires with how this country is being run. When the revolution begins and the wrongs have been righted, they will once again be at peace.

  13. Prepping Preacher says:

so much for “southern hospitality”… too bad there’s no one to take up for this poor victim and make these greedy devils pay for murdering him…

  14. I’d unknowingly encountered Andrew recently in several political discussions on Facebook and though I didn’t know him, what I’d seen of his posts suggested a decent and solid man who shared many of my own interests. It was an unpleasant surprise when I learned of his death on the 26th and as I began reading about his situation, I grew angry just from hearing the very basics.

I could have found myself in similar circumstances to Andrew’s. I became disabled by multiple sclerosis in 2006, and even though it hit me hard, the government denied me several times over almost a year and a half before finally relenting and approving my disability income, causing me to come within 2 weeks of losing my own home, so I understand EXACTLY how it feels to be slowly crushed by the government Machine.

Andrew’s case is a lot more involved than mine, no question. I realized there was skulduggery afoot before finding this page, and reading this fills in many more blanks.

What happened to Andrew is APPALLING. I’m a columnist for the American Daily Herald and began writing my new article discussing this based only on the similarities between our cases, but finding this additional information makes me want to do the very best I can to raise peoples’ awareness of the thuggish and illegal lengths the government of Roswell went to in their scheme to ruin him and steal his property.

A question, if I may, the appellation ‘Chicken Man’ in every single article I’ve seen struck me as the media’s taking an affectionate local nickname for Andrew and cynically using it to defame his character, it’s used without much explanation and looks like it’s placed to distract attention from his real personality and distort readers’ image of him…do you that knew him better think I’m on to something?

Thank you for posting this page, I’m drawing heavily on it in my research and will be watching it for some time. I hope intensely that enough of a stink will be raised by everyone’s efforts that the officials involved are called to account for their rotten behavior at some point.

You could even link to this article — see the RSS feed button? You can set up a free blog at WordPress.com or Blogger.com. Then you can go onto your Facebook page & “Share” your post there. People can come to your blog from there and post their own comments, and they can also Share it on their Facebook pages. Before you know it, this thing will be all over the internet! And it will stay there forever! (Without costing you a cent, of course!)

The City of Roswell is nothing more than a gang of bullies. My friend was ticketed for a traffic violation that was dismissed in court. The Roswell jackboots proceeded to harass him constantly as he drove to and from his job. He changed his route and got a new car to stop the harassment.
    This is Roswell!

  17. StevenKY says:

Several years ago I had a similar problem with local officials who had a GOD COMPLEX. My solution to their Superior Attitude problem was to teach them about the “Vine that ate the South” aka KUDZU. It is truly amazing what happens when a handfull of KUDZU is tied to an iceball of frozen Miracle Gro plant food and tossed into the shrubery or other vegetation next to those ROYALTY’s homes. That vine will quickly grow and then grow some more until they finally notice that their house is being eaten by the KUDZU. In this case, each and every one of those self-important jerks need to know about this simple trick. I think the proper term is that “Payback is a Bitch” and the KUDZU is really hard to get rid of.

    • chris says:

LOL. Thank you. I might do this to my own property.(If I have property)That they would not want it.

      • StevenKY says:

CHRIS, I took a bunch of fast food, soft drink cups and cut a 1/2 inch slit on the top edge and took a 3 foot long piece of string, folded it in half and put the folded end in the cup, held in place by the slit. Filled the cup with the powdered Miracle Grow mixed with water and placed the cups in the freezer. When ‘delivered’, a handful of kudzu was tied to the strings and the paper cup was removed leaving me with a nice green iceball with leaves attached. Never failed to grow since the water and food was right there and the string got loose once the ice melted. Reading other comments in this forum it looks like a lot of other folks need to try this trick. If Kudzu can “Eat the South” it can also eat other parts of this formerly great nation and since many folks don’t know what Kudzu looks like it can gain a foothold and GROW LIKE THE DICKENS until it is too late to kill it off. Just my 2 cents worth.

        • Dragonqueen says:

Now that’s much more creative than blowing yourself up. (I would have blown up the property, but not myself. I’m not a martyr.) I have seen the effects of kudzu.

  18. Bking says:

When are they going to change it from ” land of the free” to land of the restricted?

  19. Ashley says:

So does the eminent domain law trump the constitution? It says right in the constitution that the govt doesnt have the right to take your land unless they give you a proper payment for exactly what its worth. I thought the constitution was the law of the land & u couldnt go against it. Eminent domain is definately unlawful & needs to be stopped.

    • Regan says:

Technically, yes the Constitution is the “law of the land”. However, our government (local & national) hasn’t been concerned with what’s in that document for years now. They are constantly taking the rights the Constitution guarantees us away – and will eventually take them all away.

  20. Dan Lubniewski says:

I am the – Birdman of long beach – in California. This was a very sad story about a man that just wanted to do right, live in peace and enjoy a happy life and god bless him in heaven. I am a Marine Corp. veteran and this so easily could of been me. I get a small disability penson from the Va. so I needed somewhere to live reasonable so I could affort to continue my bird rescue. A 99 cent store let me put a 2001 chevy Van Conversion in a fenced in area way in the back of the property and rented it to me for 3 years at $250.00 a month through three landlords. I had cages everywhere with pigeons I was doctoring. I took care of everyones property around there keeping that area one of the cleanest areas in the city which should of made the city proud. My pitbull Babygirl and me locked gates accidently left open at the school next to us and there was a apt. building next to my small area and everyone was thrilled to have us there keeping everything nice and being security for there cars parked in the back there. We were a good reflection on the city, the homeless, the veterans, and the disabled and like the chicken man I was filled with pride sacrificing a normal place to live to be able to afford to help god’s creatures. So for 3 years we lived in my van in the fenced in area only doing good. It was a area way in the back out of everyones view. Then while my rent was paid the police and the city came and dragged us out of there and treated us worse than a seriel killer. This was the gratitude we received for making Long Beach look good. The owner of the property John Cabe who owns Cabe Toyato even without my permission had my van towed to his property figuring I would never be in a position to get it back which I was not. And he could sell it and add the money from it to his bank account if you can believe that.On google is some of the stories published on my rescue work under Birdman of long beach and contact information.I survived this horible nightmare and made a name for myself and never gave up on helping my little friends. But what I am getting at is the treatment I received could of made this old Marine lose it and it could of turned into a nightmare for everyone. I wish the Chicken Man had never been pushed to that point but I definitely understand how he was with the treatment he received. May you rest in peace now Chicken Man.

    • StevenKY says:

Dan, it sounds like you need a bushel basket full of KUDZU to plant around that Toyota dealership since KUDZU originally came from either China or Japan for erosion control. I think that John Cabe might appreciate the humor of the “Vine that ate the South” eating his Toyota dealership. Just my 2 cents worth.

It just might be time to fight fire with fire…. literally. Reason and the Constitution mean nothing anymore so the next step is physical action. The government goons keep pushing and one day SOON a LOT of them will be leaving families behind. This will be happening all over the country.

  23. Patsy says:

Shame on the government officials who hide behind the country’s real state laws, wrongfully enforcing them, driving good people like Mr. Wordes to the extreme and taking matters in to his own hands to defend his rights since going to court and winning did him no good!
This country is definitely not the land of the free any more, and please dont blame Obama, this shit has been going on way before he was even born…
We have let our government have too much power to the point where we, the people who elect our officials ( WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT US…) have no say at all.
THEY DON’T REGULATE US, THEY OWN US!!!!!!!!!!

  31. lonnie says:

So sad. Every single one of those involved in this situation deserves to be strung up front he highest tree as a warning to others.

  33. This is,indeed,a travesty. Folks, we are gulag bound. Until American citizens are willing to educate themselves about U.N. Agenda21 and actively work to remove it from our local and state governments, the death knell of liberty will continue toll. I agree with the earlier post. His blood is on the hands of the city of Roswell and they should be sued by his family and criminally charged!

The important things to remember about this machine are: (1) Stay out of its way if at all possible – avoid confrontations, (2) If you can’t avoid it, “steer into the skid.” If they tell you you need to move off your land, get them to give you better than “fair market value” for it (or at least what it is worth), (3) Use the courts to your advantage – if something is unfair, you can generally get a judge to over-ride it, (4) Use the media to your advantage. If you can get an overwhelming number of people to object, you may be able to stem, or even reverse the action, (5) NOTHING IS HOPELESS – don’t kill yourself – you can always re-start somewhere else.

    • Rhoda says:

I agree with you Bob Smith, but will add, Do your best to seek God and trust that He will make a way. My heart goes out to this poor mans suffering. Had he told others about this and had those others cared enough to share he would still be alive and helping others prepare for what is inevitable in my opinion……

  42. Julie says:

So sad, not the first time this has happened 16 years of paying for land you never got to keep, living the dream, more like dream prevention…man it’s ok to listen to leaf blowers night and day for hours but roosters…I don’t know the whole situation doesn’t sound right that is for sure it does seem like harrassment but the water issue why didn’t the city fix?

  43. Julie says:

I would also like to make a note about environmental surveys they are super costly and prevent building Iknew someone that purchased 22 acres and wanted to build a senior home well the cost over the top costs for environmental study and engineers that it prevents people from their dreams unless they have millions….

    Chickens stink…bad!

    • N. Lynn says:

I think you’re missing the whole point of this.

      • Diane Denizen says:

Yes she is-probably because she lives in a bubble and watches TV all day, drinking and eating twinkies-you know, one of the thick ones!

  45. Mike says:

This is the same thing that we see occurring everywhere, just on a smaller scale. The local, state and federal government are abusing citizens all over the US. This is about control and land seizure. Like many other examples, this man was someone who just wanted to exist and live.. The local Roswell government wanted his land and will turn tyrannical until they run this man off. People are fed up with this country and their representatives. The charges they kept applying to this man were obviously nothing more than harassment. People will and are already rebelling, and whatever happens, these pos deserve it!

  46. Deedie says:

Makes me ashamed to live in Georgia. What a bunch of selfish snobs. I hope their city park turns into a sink hole.

  47. mustang says:

See what happens when the communists take over? We have been warned, MANY times now, clear back to the 50′s, maybe even earlier, everybody just blew it off as ‘nonsense’ and paranoia. Well folks, it is now HERE. What are you going to do about it? They love idiots and cowards and apathy. Keep up the good work, your kids will really thank you for being cowards some day.

  48. Ronald Schwartz says:

We became face book friends just before this happened and I had just had him contact his state senator for an investigation,he was treated unfairly and I also spoke out because the Mayor is a member of Bloombergs mayor’s anti gun group,he knew the city wanted his property all along and wouldn’t fix it so it would drain oar anything to actually help him.

  49. SammysDad says:

The people of Roswell should vote the entire government out for destroying this man’s life. Eminent domain is pure stealing and theft of one’s property and the Supreme Court should be admonished for allowing it to be “constitutional.” Chicken Man’s pursuit of happiness was halted by corrupt deceitful politicians who should be ousted and never allowed to run again.

    • awfull says:

i don;t know who in the hell thinks discussing the presidents is gona help any thing ;; this is about the city doing some one wrong” people should have stood up for this man ” and now people should vote out the city mayor and manager ‘if i was gonna kill my self hell go shoot the dam city folks first ” crooks cheats ” ass’s what comes around goes around you roswell screw balls ;; hope his people takes you all to court ”

  50. steve smith says:

This Tragedy breaks my heart as to what our own Govt. is doing to all of us. We need to Stand United against our corrupt Govt.
My suggestion is that within the community you live in, you form a United task force to protect yourselves and your neighbors. United we stand , divided we fall. This is our country, don’t ever forget that.

  51. Buck says:

As can readily be seen , the United States of America and all REAL Americans are DEAD , all that is left is a hollow constitution to cover the fact that we are ruled by evil Satanist communist sons-o b-t–es like the demi-gods of Roswell Georgia and the demonrats in Washington DC along with the mount olympus GODs in the United Nations .

  52. Hay farmer Jim says:

I can well relate to this. My dad and grandfather owned 12 cotton warehouses on the Mississippi levy in St Louis. They were both card-carrying, fat-cat (donors) Republicans. Roosevelt was elected in ’32. Darst, a Democrat, defeated the Republican Mayor of St Louis in ’34. The federal government seized my dad’s river-levy properties in 1937 (the year I was born, youngest of 4) in the name of, “Right of Public Domain”. O’Donnell v United States Government, famous Supreme Court case and $2 million later, my dad was awarded $33,000 as an “equitable” settlement. That’s the way it works when the Dems are in control. Take from the producers, and pocket the proceeds in the guise of giving to the poor.

  53. Samuel Brandt says:

If Iam put througt that kind of a knighmare, I will not go down alone. Some where along the line those SOBs need learn they have to pay to play.

  54. Dennis says:

Maybe he should have looked into a reason to find the state or county doing this at fault on their own against ordinance and taken there property from them or causing them a headache. The law supposed to work both ways . time to use it to our advantage.

  55. UniversalSoldier says:

You know what has to be done everyone can blah, blah, blah and it just goes on and on and on and they take more and more and more until they are met with a unified resistance. If this was occurring when our forefathers of this nation was young this would NEVER been happening today. We have a government that has become so big they have become giant BULLIES AND WILL GO TO ANY EXTREME TO GET THEIR WAY. And the sheeple just take what ever punishment they receive. The Unification of the people of the United States is very badly needed in order to stop the oppression this countries government which is currently enslaving everyone no matter what race you are. That is why our country is called The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

  56. Dave says:

In many cases it involves elder abuse. My mom was a widow. They changed the property code and fined her the next day. She requested and was given time to build a wooden fence around the property. A year later they came, taking pictures of inoperable vehicles, eye sores, and they fined her without giving her a chance or time to comply. She asked the judge for a lenient fine since she was a widow on fixed income. The judge fined her $100. The city manager and city engineer called her begging her to pay for the Attorney fee, $2000 they used in city money to hire a prosecutor. My mom refused of course. The two gentlemen were fired. I am sure glad I made my mom aware of what they were trying to do to her. At first she was overwhelmed, wanted to give up because they were being so nasty and rude to her. At first my mom felt she was ready to sell the Mansion, with 8 bedrooms, three kitchens, three living rooms and diners, six restrooms and a beautiful main living room with a 6′ fireplace. It was at Indian School Lane in Banning CA. Irving Berlin had once lived across the street at the Briar Gate Manor where he wrote White Christmas. And the Wright brother who was the architect designed and help build the house next door. I told her they were harassing her because she was an elderly widow and they want her to sell the property. The house wasn’t for sale but some oddly annoying people kept showing up asking if it was for sale. Without ever seeing inside they would start immediately start criticizing and saying it wasn’t worth anything. My mom kept the house for at least ten more years.

  57. Dhip says:

Eminent domain is my area of practice. You should know that the property owner is compensated for the value of the property taken, and damages, if any. Attorney and other costs are covered by the condemning authority. He should have been appropriately compensated unless there were business damage considerations, which is covered by a separate set of laws/rules. Eminent domain is important to everyone for sometimes not so obvious reasons. This piece made no mention of compensation so I would assume that he was realistically compensated. If the government subverted rules of trust then that is a different issue. Hopefully that wasn’t the case.

    • Dhip says:

This case had nothing to do with eminent domain but with corrupt officials who had a funny idea as to what they should do. Governance through threats and subversion should never be accepted by anyone, and that is what he was dealing with, corruption, subversion and threats by a government. Tough to fight city hall, with their deep pockets and, I hate to say it, but judges who have a funny sense of their obligation to act. This thing is just so outrageous. Eminent domain may have been the start, but eminent domain was only at the periphery. Corruption is the main issue. Sad

  59. damon says:

One may wish to be careful with the words used by those sorceress’ and sorcerers called lawyers. Words like “resident”, “livestock”, “citizen”, person, and many others that people THINK they know what they mean but take on an entirely different meaning when defined in their statutes (which many falsely believe is law). One may notice that all their purported rules and regs applies to “residents”. What people do not understand that “residence” is a “benefit” and political choice and has nothing to do with geographical location. Like myself I am no “resident”. However one must be willing to give up all those things that “residents” enjoy. Real liberty is responsibility.

Person: “In law, man and person are not exactly-synonymous terms.” Bouvier’s Law Dictionary, 1856, 1 Bouv. Inst. n. 137

Minimum Contacts: “A doctrine referring to the minimum due process requirement for subjecting a non-resident civil defendant to a court’s personal jurisdiction. The defendant must have sufficient contacts with the forum state.” International Shoe Co. v. State of Washington, 326 US. 310, 66 c.c. 154, 90 L.Ed. 95.

“Allegiance is a duty owing by citizens to their government, of which, so long as they enjoy its benefits, they can not divest themselves.” Military Government and Martial Law, William E. Birkhimer, Major, General Staff, U.S. Army, 1914, page 64).

So unless one is willing to “lose his life so that he may gain it” according to the only true King they will continue to be under bondage to the STATE. No “resident” and no “citizen” =no jurisdiction.

  60. Old Poor Richard says:

This is tragic, and a textbook case of the state of using overwhelming force to steal property and subvert the constitution.

However, Mr. Wordes always had the opportunity to step aside and escape. This was, ultimately, about an armed robbery, “your property or your life.” And while I sympathize with a robbery victim, I can’t put myself in the shoes of someone who digs in their heels and allows a robber to slaughter them over a piece of property. That’s immoral. God does not want you to kill yourself to make a statement or allow yourself to be killed over property. Over faith–yes, over property–no.

In this country we face a far more insidious problem. People every day are murdered by cops or by the system without any due process, just summarily executed. While I mourn for Wordes, I will not fight for him the way I will stand up and fight for those who are murdered by the state arbitrarily. I pick my fights carefully, meaning who I will stand beside. The real victims in this country are those who are given no due process at all.

I wish that Mr. Wordes friends in his church could have reached him, helped him to simply move out of his 1 acre plot to another town. This could have been a sad parable of the big city encroaching on small town life, without a tragic ending. There is no reason to dig in ones heels against an unstoppable force. You will not win justice with such a sacrifice.

My prayers are with Mr. Wordes, but I wouldn’t have stood with him when the bulldozers showed up. I would have only come by his place the day before to help him pack and tote boxes to his new homestead. Sometimes a fight isn’t worth fighting.

    • Roy says:

,,,,,First of all ,,,His homestead is 97 acres ,,,not a one acre shack ,,,and second of all ,,,Where do you think our founders would be if they would have givin’ up when the English come a callin’ ???,,,and it’s pretty DAM bad when your own DAM city comes after your DAM property !!! So don’t tell people to just Give Up Against An Oppressive Gov’t ,,,,Sometimes We Need To Fight For What Is OURS !!!

      • Pissed Off Bryan says:

Thank you Roy.. You took the words right out of my mouth. It’s people like Old Poor Richard is what is wrong with this country…

        • Brian says:

          Amen.

To the idiot above, yes the UN does have plenty to do with it. The state of GA, along with several others in this country, have started what is called the sustainability act. It is literally UN Agenda 21, with a humanitarian name attached. Before you comment you need to educate yourself. Why do you think ATL was so pissed off when the transportation tax didnt pass in all but two zones. Valdosta already has the plan layed out. There are poeple in the county that own property, and are never going to be allowed to do ANYTHING to it, and most have no clue!!

  69. Gary Parker says:

It’s time for us, as American citizens. Citizens of a FREE nation to rise up and fight back by any means necessary in order to take our country back from these TYRANTS. Our elected officials have gopne along on their merry way, for too long! It’s time we put them in their place!

    • eddie rod says:

Gary you are one hundred percent, right it is time to wake up and smell the coffee, join adam vs the man im willing to give my life for the country, I love , tham politicians need to go stray to hell, and start all over again. I would had to have taken a lot of those basterds, we need more whistle blowers..

  70. Pamela1942 says:

I never seen this world in such a mess as it is now. Ive learned so much about the
Government in the past 2 yrs, then I have in my whole life. To read this story broke my heart, and listening to him he was far from crazy he sounded like a man thatt just wanted to be happy and live in peace. This was a man that believed in his rights. He shouldn’t of died. The united states is supose to be the land of the free. People are fighting against there own people. Where is there hearts?? I always thought that the government cared about his people. What is happening to our free world? Are we going back too a old western movie where they just kill a good person for there land. This is very disturbing. We all as one can’t sit back and watch our wonderful country go down the drain. I never worried about politics but the move I see and read. This is horrible. And I’ll be first in line to vote next time. This has got to be controlled we have to work together. To get our peaceful world and are freedom back. We are crumbling fast. God bless you Mr. Wordes.. Sorry you had to die like that it wasn’t fair. When people get voted in for there promises shouldn’t be a game to you. We are not toys. We are human you promised to protect us from harm. Why not follow tho with your promises. I may not know all the laws but I know enough to know this isn’t right.

    • N. Lynn says:

Government doesn’t care about people. That’s all a facade to further their agendas. We don’t need the government to protect us, we can protect ourselves. People expecting the government to “protect us” is part of the reason why we continue to fall further into the black hole of big government and corruption.

  71. Robert Taylor says:

Or “best” if you like crony-capitalist government. When you blend govt. regulations with big business or politicians’ personal ambitions you have FASCISM, not socialism. Socialism is your public SCREWl (indoctrination) systems/centers.
I’ll bet some politician(s) is either a land developer or best-buddies with one.

  72. Deltarose says:

Well, with Obama’s plan to centralize the population into and around the cities, I’d say many are going to lose their homes and property. Of course, no one will stop him, just as they haven’t stopped him from anything else he’s done.

  73. Margie Hays says:

I bet Jimmy Carter is proud of his Agenda21-loving murderous hometown government. May God have mercy on their souls.

  74. Briana says:

Such a senseless tragedy. My only wish is he would have taken a few of the idiot government officials with him.

Here in Oz they are to tag a referendum to change the constitution to allow local govt to implement Agenda 21, this is going to be worldwide, a fascist one world government genocide of over 6 billion people, their stated ideal population “population maintained under 500m”

  80. Matt says:

Look up the New London case. The city took homes from people to give to a developer to build a strip mall because everyone knows a strip mall makes a community nicer. Markets crashed, no mall built, and the homes sit there empty…such a tragic joke.

  81. Paul says:

Hey ! you elected them, WTH . The liberals out number the constitutionalist 2-1 , it is no supprise the blood sucking liberial Democrats want your money , your home , your life to give to their leaders like Obama … and your locale home town good ole’ boys that run many cities and towns ….

  82. repeal1968guncontrolact says:

There is no freedom or liberty or property rights within the jurisdiction of these nazi style corporate cities. The police chief is almost never elected and the “code enforcement” is just a gestapo to keep the city’s thumb on you with a million complex regulations.

  84. Margaret Draper says:

I’ve lived in small towns and have felt the injustices Mr. Wordes has faced, albeit never on such a drastic scale. Right now we’re living in our travel trailer, when we’re not driving truck, as would rather ‘tough it out’ like this than end up buying somewhere where we can’t have horses, quads, etc. the ‘toys’ we want.

  85. Ben says:

Roswell needs to hear from us! An eye for an eye!!!

  86. Dale Steen says:

You guys all have opinions, BUT NO ACTION! Suggestions: #1-bombard Roswell, GA with letters, emails, phone calls. #2-Advise all your friends, relatives, including yourself to bypass Roswell. It is a Police controlled society-you don’t need to be anywhere close to there.#3–No one posted any names–such as–Mayor, city council members, Police chief and patrol officers–Let’s not forget the County Officials who were in on this–THEY MAY BE MOVING TO YOUR TOWN–WHEN THINGS GET TO HOT WHERE THEY ARE. I DON’T WANT ANY OF THEM TO SETTLE IN MY TOWN, OR STATE FOR THAT MATTER. IN FACT I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING OUT OF ALL OF GEORGIA! R.I.P Mr. Wordes and may the GREEDY people responsible all rot in HELL!

  87. President Obama says:

SO DIS NIGGA BLEW HIS ASS UP!? I HOPE HE TOOK OUT THE MARSHALS WITH HIM, FUCK THE POLICE

  88. Mardene says:

THIS IS THE IRON FIST OF GOVERNMENT!!!! WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE ANYWAY?????????

    • Brian says:

      God, unfortunately.

  89. Mike says:

It’s amazing how competent and persistent the government can be when it comes to harassing a citizen, yet, when it comes to harassing another government official or an illegal alien, they’re nowhere to be found.

  90. Rod Watkins says:

This poor American is the victim of the New World Order’s “Agenda 21″ program coming through to our citizens from the Unitied Nations. Our Federal Government is hard at work destroying our property rights and helping the states, cities, and towns to implement this special interest agenda on all law abiding citizens. The end of the greatest nation that ever existed because it once was a land of free and patriotic men is at hand.

  91. Clint says:

  92. Robert says:

Before long the goverment will take all peoples land, homes, and buildings for the betterment of the people. And we the people will just sit there and watch it happen!! We have let our goverment become to powerful. They listen to all our conversation on the phone and the internet and take our belongs and sit back and smile!!! When people do stand up they kill them!! What a wonderful goverment we have!!! Sad if u ask me!!!!!

  93. marlio says:

I hope this crappy govt and the officials in roswell, small town in the middle of no where are really happy , knowing they caused a man to kill himself. I hope they sleep really well at night knowing they have much to account for to God, when they die. Have fun with the rest of your miserable lives.

  94. Dawn says:

This is the saddest story. This can happen to everyone. When our government wants something and you have it, they just come after you from all directions. You know, “for the good of”. This type of abuse of American citizens has to stop.

  95. partinsanship brings out the loons says:

looked like an interesting story but then i read all the bat shit comments. you people are all f’d up. serious mental case, messed up. clear case as to why mental health in this country needs to be dealt with. you want a better government? you get better and then the government will get better.

This is so sad, in the end the schoolyard bullies got their way-I hope they all rot in a Hell of their own making very soon! These petty officials make me sick, their excuse ‘just following orders/obeying rules’, didn’t wash in Nuremberg and it won’t wash this time. They think that they are invincible with all that fire power behind them-this is what the Nazis thought-they were very wrong!

  102. Jake says:

I would have burn that bitch to the ground before anyone got their hands on it. It’s the same thing with the Keystone pipeline, a Canadian Oil company getting bits and pieces of Americans property to the oil company thru US courts to continue their pipelines. My Uncle is a Welder who has worked on this pipeline. He says that ranchers would stand on their property with guns waiting for anyone to step on their property. It’s just another right that has been infringed by our government.

  103. USPatriot says:

Should I be in the same situation, I would call Larry Klayman, donate the property to him with life time rights for me to remain on the property and would pay property taxes while remaining there. Larry is a well – known constitutional attorney who can stop this nonsense.

  104. HTUttle says:

There are so many subtle and obscure laws, everyone has broken one or two even if they aren’t aware of it. All excuses for the government to punish and fine until they give themselves ‘legal’ claim to your property.

    R.I.P.

P.S.: SEAN you’re the 1st one I’ve ever seen to equal Democrats to Communists (I’m Russian BTW and it makes sense to me).

  109. GS McConnell says:

There are no such things as property rights in flatland;that is a spaceland technology and will only exist when primary, secondary and primordial property are fully realized and protected by Holding Companies who protect their subscribers from coercive intrusion on all three levels. See Andrew J. Galambos;FEI

  110. Wendy says:

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord…………We the people let this man down now live with it!!! You will see much more of it until its on your door step. Obama Care is a death sentence for many and still Americans sit and cry boo hoo not doing anything but cry foul afraid to loose anything they already have. STAND UP OR SHUT UP

  111. Kim Fahey says:

….Google: PHONEHENGE for my story…The ‘Chicken man’ could never win. First, his neighbors let it happen. Without solidarity its over. They figured he would take the heat off of them. They are so wrong. The powers that be polish their skills at land grabbing on the weak and old. They’ll get around to the rest of the home owners, have no worries. During my case the head of regional planning for L.A. County admitted under oath that they could write a violation on 100% of any property, any time they wanted….

  112. Pam says:

How do you know he blew himself up? Could this be another case of Waco??? Why would he fight so hard and then give up with no warning???

  113. Bruce says:

When the Supreme Court gave developers the right to exercise Eminent Domain to improve (sic) areas of poorer neighborhoods. This set a precedent for all
municipalities to regulate and seize property at their discretion. A person techniquely does not own land or property but a bundle of rights of what can and cannot be done with that land or property. Whatever the codes and restrictions are within a community dictates those rights.

    • Lying Politicians Are Traitors says:

“A person techniquely does not own land or property…”

This is not true. The owner of property by definition does own the property. And yes, the property owner also owns the rights appurtenant to the property.

Though local government does have authority to reasonably regulate private property, it does not have the authority to supersede its powers so as to abuse the rights of the owner. Harassment is one such abuse.

  114. Mary says:

For all we know they blew him up to shut him up, and the way the city has been acting, it will be cover up.
This is so wrong on so many levels. This man should be help at heros status. It is so sad he had to die as a result of his standing his ground. Yes bullying is what happened to this man and we don’t know that he blew himself up.
I hope some kind of real justice comes of this.

    • Robin says:

This man was in no way suicidal. He was fighting with every thing he had the injustice that was coming at him full force from the government that was put in place to protect our freedoms.
We know full well he was murdered plain and simple.
The city failed to control the constant flooding purposely flooded the area with full purpose to take the land he stayed through everything including the constant harassment from the city. He returned again posted his notice to stand his ground against and any opposition. He was fighting the fight not backing down. They took out the problem.
      This is your freedom America

  115. JimB says:

I hope each and every citizen of this small town really knows that a man stood, defended, and died right where their new little park just had to go. I hope it was worth it. You people disgust me. Hiding behind your so called laws built only to enrich your pathetic meaningless lives while stomping on the good people that built those very freedoms for you. Enjoy aristocrats, enjoy.

  116. Glenda says:

This angers me beyond belief. This is happening all around the South. In my town, land that had belonged to a black family since the civil war was taken by imminent domain. It made me ill and yet those who opposed were helpless because of a bully mayor and governing body. Talk about the grandfather law and where were all the do gooder attorneys and righteous people who should have stopped this senseless harrassment? And did he really kill himself? I would never enter that park. How can anyone ever enjoy it when the man’s blood is on the hands of all the city of Roswell. This should have never happened in the land of the “free”. I am one half Cherokee Indian so I can speak from experience of what happened to so many.

  117. Jess says:

Small town southern cops are going to have to change the way they work with the city to get things done the internet is going to be a huge wake up call to these bastards

  118. gator says:

ALL I GOT TO SAY IS PEOPLE WAKE UP…OUR GOVERNMENT IS OUT TO TAKE OUR RIGHTS AWAY..LOOK BACK TO BEFORE 911 AND TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND…IM NOT A CRAZY BIBLE THUMPER BUT ITS ALL THERE IN BLACK AND WHITE AND WE ARE IN THE LAST CHAPTOR OF THE BIBLE GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY BECAUSE WE ARE FALLING FROM WITHIN……

  119. shell says:

I would have invited them in then blew it all sky high and took a few of them bastards with me. It is a shame that this crap is going on. Our government and other groups worry about peoples rights like the terrorists that are being tortured or mishandeled or what ever, what about our rights. Our own government agencies whether city, state or federal act like terrorists with their own people.

  120. Edward Ott says:

I can only hope that the city of Roswell feels
ashamed for what they done.I hope the people Roswell will remember this come election day.It could happen to them.

  121. rick says:

What makes everyone so sure that he killed himself, that he pushed the button???????????

  122. sandra weight says:

sounds like to me that Roswell was the nuiscence in the community. this is blatant misuse of power on the part of Roswell, it is criminal. somewhere there will be justice for these criminals in government clothing.

  123. AtlantaGirl says:

UN Global Initiative (agenda 21) IS real and has been injected into every small town, city in this country via Fed. required PLANNERS…corrupt city councils, officials are taking property for ‘the greater good’ using any/all means at their disposal..and property owners do NOT come out financially WHOLE…beware, this IS real!!!

What we don’t hear, and likely will never hear is the other side of the story. You know, the part where this god-fearing, willfully ignorant man decided it was better to martyr himself on some Glen Beckian altar of fantasy persecution than practice a little humility and citizenship. The days are long over where all a man needed to do was take his trusty musket in hand, march out into the wilderness and rape and pillage his way to a perfect representation of an idyllic, Christian life. Let’s just forget he had every right to foul his “property” however he saw fit. So where’s the rest of the story. Come on now, was he really such a saint, or just another hallucination of a fertile and paranoia-polluted mind.

  124. Potent says:

Apparently there has been a anonymous organization called ‘Cerberus’ that has stepped up to reveal certain city officials as corrupt and has begun to root them out of the local government. At least someone is doing something about this.. We cannot blindly follow supposed leaders who care not for the common man, but for special interests that run so much of international politics. We must join together to be heard!

  125. GDI says:

The regular person can never really own land in the United States as all you do is rent it from the government in the form of property taxes to various taxing entities. And, if you dont pay, they seize your home and land and sell it in a public auction.

  126. John Warr says:

I have never liked “Roswell, Ga.”! Upon entering a downtown art show for the first time, won “Best of Show” for a Rober E. Lee painting. The next year, thinking Best of Show would be an automatic “in”, I was jurried “out”! Never got in the show again…political correctness rearing it’s ugly head…..I bet the Judge that gave me the award was never asked to judge again!

  127. Todd Eilts says:

RIP Mr.Wordes… I only hope that the SOB’s that put you through this can rest with themselves, knowing that they did this to you on purpose and with apparent malice at heart. I hope they are haunted by their actions as long as they live. THE man in the mirror can be very difficult to look at when he sees a guilty thief standing in front of him.

  128. Kilted Highlander. says:

There is away we can show our disgust for what happened, and that is to all send mail to the city of Roswell Ga. letting them know just how disgusted we all are at the way these so called elected officials and their Police dept. treated one of their own. Its shameful, I really don’t know how they sleep at night with this fella just trying to get by in life.

  130. Patty Walker says:

This story is a little off track, but still smacks of the same “corporate” greed. I live in the Florida Keys. There was a large trailer park, on the edge of the Atlantic, a beautiful plot of land; filled with old, new and travel trailers. Had been there for years. All at once, this land developer brings to attention of the local court the “fire hazards” to these people. He wants the place shut down. The ENTIRE community in that park fought the bullshit for over ten years; finally broke, they threw in the towel. Everyone was displaced. Once the people moved on, the developer went in, bulldozed these trailers. Like they were meaningless children’s toys. Now, there are three story, gated community, condos on the land. Polluting like Hell, as any over populated space does. It’s funny, though. In the next few towns, there are trailer parks, with trailers set just as closely together, and not a single thing has been said to any of them about their fire hazards. Isn’t it strange????? But what I wonder is this. Just how long will it be before another Trailer Park down here falls victim? If it can happen to one, they will just sight all the recent credence this developer made to acquire the land, and they will go down in no time. More “locals” displaced. More housing to Gate Up more land. My husband and I have been down here for about 7 years. Never saw anything like it. Not only are they playing with hard working “Conch Republic” born natives lives, but they are now messing with all the Fish Chartering businesses, that all in the name of “environmental protection”.

Another funny story, speaking of big business getting away with the most horrific things. My husband was out fishing with a guy on the Atlantic Ocean side. He lost the prop on his boat, and wandered into sea grass. He was fined $5,000 for this “atrocity”. The guy had to sell his $20,000 boat, got a whole, whopping $7,00 for it, to pay off the fine. A few weeks down the road, the Gulf Oil Spill happened. Now I ask you, if a guy has to pay $5,000 for bending a little sea grass, what do you think the sum total of the BP Oil Spillage should be?

Talk about bullshit. I agree with everybody on this page. We may all become victims, no, let me rephrase that, we ARE ALL becoming victims to out of control, regulatory government. They are literally taking our homes, and our way of making a living away from us.

And yet we worry about some baseballer using steroids. Or some other nonsensical thing.

I look at my grandkids. It is their generation that will have to fight to take this country back. It will be a bloody civil war. Everyday man against all the Droids a big government can shell them with.

The American Dream? Long gone. Only us old timers around, to remember, and tell the good story.

Any Particular reason these City Officials in Roswell haven’t been shot dead yet ??????

  136. Steven V says:

All the City officials that “pushed” this tragedy into occurrence should be removed from office!

  137. stephanie joy says:

Sad. The crux of the issue people fail to grasp is that LEGAL TITLE to land is NOT true ownership. Legal title is simply the right to USE the property, and only by permission (i.e. building permits). The founders of America wanted freemen to own land free and clear, including the beneficial interest, but Americans have gone into bondage and lost that freedom a long time ago. You cannot buy property with DEBT notes. This article is a good resource: http://www.hisholychurch.org/study/gods/cog2lvl.php

  138. Beth Susick says:

This just proves the illegal actions by city officials. The entire city officials and anyone else involved should be up on murder charges and the city and the ones involved pay the family for what they did. But the sad part this goes on everywhere and they get away with it. Greed and power greed and power need I say more

  139. Enter your name... says:

Another sad story of tax payer funded bullying. Dont bother buying a home people. It will never fell lie you own it, because by rights you used the federal money to buy it, and it is a lease on federal land, the interest to pay for land the government really owns. Home loans lie, Bahhhh already bahhhh. Sheep bahhh.

Home owners have been paying a form of rent called a federal 99 year lease.

  141. Sherri says:

This is one of the reasons that EVERYONE should dump their “deed” and get a land patent on their property. A land patent has been tested and upheld in court. They can’t take your land with a patent, a deed gives ownership to the govt with you being the tenant who pays usage tax to the govt. Want to know WHO really owns the land? Stop paying your property (usage) tax and the real owner will come and take possession.

Makes you wonder if we’re still living in the land of the free…doesn’t seem like it, does it? I’d say the city of Roswell virtually murdered this poor man – and all those asinine city officials should be held accountable for wrongful death by his estate. Shameful.
