Why spending money is better than saving for survivalists

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advising people go out and blow their money on a bunch of useless junk, but I do think spending money to stock up on things you’ll need is a good idea, and here is why.

Prices will never be as low as they are right now! The price of everything is going up. Food, clothing, toilet paper it’s all going to be more money next year than it is right now. You’ll always need clothing and food; buying them now, and when they’re on sale, will actually help you save money over time.

Think about it, you can either save your $50 bucks and buy 2 sweaters next year, or you can spend it now and buy two sweaters and a pair of pants. The key is knowing what you need, and avoiding the temptation to spend money on useless things.

Stock up on things like:

  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • Jeans and T-Shirts
  • Shoes
  • Foods that have extended shelf life.
  • Water
  • Survival Supplies
  • MRE’S
  • Just make sure it’s stuff that will be useful to you in the future, not just today!

  1. I completely agree with this post. You can get some great deals now, though I do think one should put some money into savings to protect against what seems to be the inevitable job loss. Wife and I are in the process of buying some land on the cheap. A year ago we would have spent nearly twice as much as what we are paying now, not to mention the exorbitant interest rate due to our age.

No doubt you can find some amazing deals now. Great blog/site, BTW.

  2. Saving money is good but in a SHTF disaster money can loose its value. After all no amount of money will help you if there is nothing to buy. I remember in the months after Katrina you still could not let any bottled water out of your sight without it walking off on you.
