Unusual Earthquake activity in Yellowstone

Most people don’t know that right underneath Yellowstone National Park is one of the world’s largest super volcanoes. Well word is just coming out that Scientists are monitoring some recent disturbing earthquake activity in Yellowstone. There have been more than 250 small earthquakes in the park since Friday.

Small earthquakes can happen from time to time in Yellowstone, but it is very unusual to have this number of quakes over such a short period of time.

The largest tremor happened on Saturday and measured as a magnitude 3.8 quake.

The last major eruption in Yellowstone, around 640,000 years ago, it ejected 8,000 times the ash and lava of Mount St. Helens. A massive eruption would be catastrophic and would cause problems for everyone in the world.

Check out what would happen if Yellowstone ever erupted:

Some Scientists say that an erruption at Yellowstone is long overdue, lets hope that these recent earthquakes are not a sign of things to come.

  1. I am horrified beyond belief. And I truly hope you are too. Please see this for what it is. Don’t allow this to happen to our children.

as of Saturday, my questions to the USGS go unanswered. they deleted the 3.8 quake from the map. i assume to keep people from freaking out.

the caldera is going to go, likely on the north-western side, which is where the larger earthquakes are happening, and where the youngest of the surface faults are.

I wish those in charge of such things could trust their populations enough to keep them informed of the reality of the geology of the planet they live on. so much chaos will ensue just because people are woefully unprepared for this and other realities, that will and must happen.

    • watch out for the New Madrid Fault Line Zone, San Andreas Fault Line Zone, Cascadia Fault Line Zone these will definitely cause a mega earthquakes, mega tsunamis & mega volcanic eruptions that will hit the US!!!):
