Survivorman Quits Show, takes a jab at Bear Grylls

Survivorman Les Stroud with Knife

The original Survivor man Les Stroud, is planning on ending his popular show after he wraps up the filming of his third season. Les Stroud has been chased by jaguar, suffered from heatstroke and spent many a sleepless nights in the wild.

Survivorman which airs on the on the Discovery Channel, puts Les Stroud alone in the wilderness for 7 days with little or no food and water. He films himself and has no help, unlike another T.V. Survivor who has been caught sleeping in hotels while pretending to be filming his show (Bear Grylls).

Well it looks like Bear Grylls is probably celebrating because the “Real Survivorman” has announced that he will be retiring the popular show at the end of season 3.

“It takes a lot out of me as I really do what I do for real, with no camera crew, no nights in hotels like others do, and it takes a toll on my body,” Stroud told Reuters.

“You can only do seven days surviving without food a certain number of times a year. I’m pleased with what I have done, I’ve been copied around the world, but 25 times I’ve not eaten anything for a week while sleeping on rocks. I need to move on.”

Although this is probably Sad news for some, Les is in talks to return to the airwaves with a TV series where he will follow in the footsteps of famous explorers.

  1. REALLY sorry to hear he is quitting. I have learned so much from him. But just in case he is bothered by any mosquitoes in the future, I have just learned a brilliant repellent:
LISTERINE, apparently it kills or keeps the little critters away. no chemicals. cheap etc etc. use on your horses too. I don’t which listerine it is, but I imagine the original strong one. just put in spray bottle

  2. Im a northern Canadian boy and watch and learned all of his episodes. Not only is it entertaining but he’s the real deal! I watched those so called other shows, a guy jumping around like a monkey, not a good way to stay safe at all! one fall and its game over monkey boy, but i guess he’s got his crew to take him to the hotel Hey!
Thanks for putting yourself on the line to teach us how its really done. P.S my favorite one was his first one in northern Ontario. Great job to the Canadian boy! Nothing beats Canadian boys and Canadian Hockey!!!! later

  3. The reason i think Les beats Bear is because Survivorman is actually surviving by himself
but bear on the other hand is with 15 camera guys
and probably a few medics to give him a bandaid if
he scratches his elbows doing stupid things.

  4. Come on Les… We don’t have to have ten or seven day shows…. One to two day shows would be better!

  5. All of you survivorman fans are taking it the wrong yea I guess bear has been caught eating food and sleeping in hotels off camera but what he is showing you on camera is real what not to eat and what to eat go here and not there he teaches you just like survivorman they do the same stuff I’ve watched both and there both good there is no reason to bash one person for not sleeping on rocks like ‘re other

  6. I have to admit that I loved watching and learning survival skills with Les Stroud each time he demonstrated the different ways to survive in the great outdoors. Thankyou Les
