Evolution of the AR-15: One of today’s most Controversial Rifles

When it comes to firearms, no other platform has received as much bad press and vilification as the infamous AR-15. From being blamed for every mass shooting that has ever taken place to the morons on the news claiming the AR stands for Assault Rifle, the AR-15 seems to the go-to bad guy when things go wrong. Whether it’s the latest school shooting or the latest terror attack, for some reason AR15s are ussually pulled into the mix, even when they had nothing to do with the actual shooting.

So what does the AR stand for?

Despite what the dipshits in the media would like you to believe, it does not stand for Assault Rifle. The AR-15 was designed by Eugene Stoner while working for ArmaLite in the 1950s and 60s.

The AR is simply the product naming convention from the company that invented it, ArmaLite. There are actually a number of rifles that share the AR name; oddly the AR-15 is the one that usually gets the shit end of the stick.

So is it really a Military Weapon?

Here is another bit of bullshit the media likes to feed people. While the AR style resembles military rifles like the M-16, they function just like any other semi-automatic civilian sporting rifle. They fire one round with every pull of the trigger, they are not full-auto, and they are no different than any other semi-auto firearm.

The original purpose of the firearm was for the civilian market.

  1. Well, I wanted to make the pants-wetting Left happy soooo I bought a Springfield M1A, a black/synthetic rifle nearly everyone can agree on.

  2. (sigh) I have tried to explain this to many people, very few have listened or researched themselves.
Some of them even looked at me like I was covered head to toe with tinfoil.
I guess there isn’t much you can say to people who are willfully ignorant.
