Our ever so helpful government has decided that your wood burning stove is now a danger to the world. In another attempt to outlaw the off grid lifestyle, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the same agency that was recently caught using drones to spy on Americans, is now going after home owners who use Wood Burning Stoves to heat their homes.
Shortly after the re-election of President Obama, the agency announced new radical environmental regulations that threaten to effect people who live off the grid. The EPA’s new environmental regulations reduce the amount of airborne fine-particle matter from 15 micrograms to 12 micrograms per cubic meter of air.
This means that most wood burning stoves would now fall into a class deemed unacceptable under these new draconian measures. The EPA has even launched a nifty new website called burn wise to try to sway public opinion.
On their site, while trying to convince people to get rid of their old stoves and buy the new EPA-certified stoves, they state that these older stove must be scraped, and cannot be resold.

The local air pollution agency says I can’t sell my old wood stove to help pay for an EPA-certified wood stove. Why is that?
Replacing an older stove with a cleaner-burning stove will not improve air quality if the older stove is reused somewhere else. For this reason, wood stove change out programs usually require older stoves to be destroyed and recycled as scrap metal, or rendered inoperable.
Let’s hope this doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the newly created Department of Homeland Security Environmental Justice Units. The next thing you know we might all be getting a knock at the door….. Your Neighbor reported that you might be burning some wood, do you mind if we take a look around?
We’d like to think we can take a stand to fight for our rights but the truth is we have financed our own takeover. These son-a-bitches are ready for war right here in America, to fight it’s own people when they “GET OUT OF LINE”! Foreign troops will be at their disposal and all the tools are in place as we text!! Of course, like all other idiot ideas the gummit has, they forgot about the enforcement of such a directive. How are they going to do it? Who is going to go door to door to physically take out these stoves? Up here in Adirondack country, I would estimate a household ratio of three or four guns per stove… just saying…
this is probably one of the internment camps that fema has. i believe they are called intake centers and are supposed to be used for terrorists. this is where probably everybody that is against the current obama administration is going to end up.
you know unfortunately these kinds of things are going to become an everyday occurrence and if people do not rise up, put pressure on their elected officials to shut these assholes down they will keep doing it. unfortunately once some of the freedoms are gone then we never get back to where we were before they steal them. it just seems to me that people like the ones at the EPA are involved in trying to push the people in this country to an armed revolt. this scares me because we all know that there is something up their sleeves if they are deliberately trying to do this. it is almost like they are daring us.

They just want our money. Using wood stoves looses up to many hundreds per month on heating and cooking sources. Plus they just want to havemore control on us… more robot material.
This is total BS, but you still can build your own Rocket Mass Heater on a very small budget. Many of the components can be found in the junkyard. Search for “rocket mass heater” on youtube. Not only is it inexpensive to build, it’s very efficient and you will most likely burn less wood.
some of these responses are so paranoid! there is no way big brother is going to come in your house and remove your wood burning stove. Give your blood pressure a break and calm down.
Talk about pollution, if they fine me or tell me to remove mine, I will fight them in court. There is a ton of video proof of the daily CHEMTRAILS that they fill our sky’s and air with, and they manipulate the weather, then there is HARRP and DARPA.
Dont forget the fallout from fukushima, which the epa purposely STOPPED monitoring and or reporting on. that fubar nuke plant is an ele(extinction level) event ongoing. glad to read here that others are seeing the illegal chemtrails which are u.n. sanctioned and of which the epa turns a cold shoulder to.

Fuck that! They’re so full of bullshit. The government does more to pollute than any wood-burning person. The only reason they want us on the grid is to control us. It would be a healthier planet if we all got off of the grid. Maybe, when the economy dries up, it’ll be the great equalizer, and they won’t have the funds to pull this nonsense anymore. I look forward to the day that the government no longer has the means to stalk and harass innocent people.

Wow. I dont like the government getting their grubby hands into my business any more than the next but i think everyone her is over reacting just a little. I just went to this site and this is the first ive heard of this wood burning stove thing. but from what ive read it sounds like they just want people to use CLEANER burning wood stove. their not saying you cant use one at all. you would think OFF THE GRID people who typically use alternative / renewable energy would have an appriciation for a push to be greener/ eco-friendly.
and before anyone says it. no im not pro-government or any of that crap nor am i anti-gov either. i dont wanna pay insane taxes or give up my guns any more than the next guy.
SLEE- In Looney California they have spare the air days. No one and that’s no one is allowed to burn any wood in any fireplace. That also includes that $4 dollar a log that’s especially engineered to not pollute. They are damaging that business all across the state. Humans have been burning wood since hey have been here, And there is no shortage of humans or lifespan.
Maybe they should ban forest fires.
Uh …anyone have a source for this? I can find *nothing* about EPA taking any action such as the one described. As an OWB owner myself, obviously a concern, but my bullsh*t detector has fresh batteries and it’s quite loud.
The angle of this article is disgusting. These decisions are often driven by private lobbies not “the government”. I would make a sure bet the “clean-burning” NG industry has a heavy hand in this.
Actually, the wood stove regs started with CITIZENS who complained, yet had no recourse, on neighbors who were smoking up their entire valley.
It’s the complete opposite of a private lobby – rather completely grassroots.
What would you do if you were king and a bunch of citizens came to you and said a dangerous haze was hanging over their entire are due to dirty wood burning?
